This is really not the mature way to handle this.

This is the way a pacifist handles it and it is actually quite a bit more mature than violence. It is very hard to intimidate a pacifist with violence, especially a pacifist capsuleer with few skills.

What it's going to do is inspire more violence.

Yes, that is a teensy bit of a threat.

I don't think this is a solution to that though. In fact, this probably eggs them on. I know even I am tempted to shoot you for this level of stupidity, and I am supposed to be your ally. This is childish and accomplishes nothing.

I appreciate your frustration, but what you do not understand is that this level of frustration should be expressed at the mindless and gratuitous violence that is not only tolerated but celebrated daily. It is the violence that is childish and stupid. Whole organizations exist for the purpose of killing. That is mindless. Before we ever existed as an abolitionis organization, we existed to protest the violence of New Eden. If my voice is snuffed out in this endeavor, it will because people could not stand having their violence confronted. Every violent death in New Eden should be commemorated by its own thread.

You have been killed many times before today, why did you not make threads about those losses? Thou art angry brethren? Roll

In the early days of DSTON, I was often podded for tipping cans and engaging people in conversation on issues such as greed and violence. I was often cussed out and screamed at and called every name under the sun. That was a study of individual behaviors and attitudes toward violence. This is different. This is a study of corporate attitudes toward gratuitous violence and prevailing attitudes towards those who choose a different way.

Do you remember your history? Throughout the ages, non-violent people have staged what are called "sit ins." It is a form of civil disobedience where individuals or groups would place themselves in a position of inconvenient nuisance in protest of what they perceived as injustices within society. This is the capsuleer version of the "sit in."

Sit ins seldom achieved great political goals, but they did expose the group think of society. People often fomented intense hatred towards those who participated in these sit ins because it inconvenienced their lives or repeatedly brought up issues they did not wish to think about. Most of these movements were violently suppressed by the authorities. Many pacifists were killed or imprisoned. Society just didn't want to look at itself for what it was.

Already the vehemence of those who embrace violence as the norm is being expressed. I have seen a great many things tolerated on this forum. Racism, Sexism, Unspeakable descriptions of gore and violence are all tolerated, even received. Sit ins were usually crushed when the usually passive public cried out to government authority to "do something about those people." So too here, the violent will cry out to Galnet to stop this sit in because it is just so intolerable to have anyone stage a peaceful protest. If it must be so, it must be so.

Sit-ins often continued until the pacifists were either killed or imprisoned. Then society went back to its status quo acceptance until others decided to protest once again. So to here. Each time I am killed in this war, I will post it here in a new thread. This is my sit-in until I am prevented from doing so.

Ston, let me make this clear. You are going to be removed from this channel if you keep it up, just as you were just removed from The Summit. The reason why this will happen if you post a new thread every time you are killed is because you are 'Spamming the Forum'. It is against the rules.

((On an OOC note, it might also result in you being removed from the game. Check the Forum Rules link, but if you are banned from the forum your account can come under review as well. It's not worth it.))

Spam is here being defined as any repeated effort to confront a culture of persistent violence. Spam is here being defined as refusing to be silent about each and every act of gratuitous violence. Your discomfort in having your core values so confronted is so great that you would yourself step outside of the rules in order to threaten real sanction. Take a good, long look at yourself, Mr. Thessalonia and what you have become; what your experience here in new Eden as a capsuleer has made you.

Don't let the spite and hate of your culture consume you.

Those involved in sit-ins were often threatened in precisely the same way as you are attempting.

If I am not killed again, there will be no more like threads. If I am killed again in this war, there shall be like threads. I will only post in response other than the initial post, so keep that in mind as well.

No, Ston, you don't understand.

I am not uncomfortable. I am annoyed.

As for your assertion that spam is being defined as any repeated effort to confront a culture of persistant violence, that is incorrect. Spam is being defined as 'duplicate threads', and several people have already reported them as such.

You do realize this provides a massive incentive for your enemies to kill you a few dozen times over, yes? You'll either break your promise, or be banned from the Summit. And that'll be the end of your, mh. Repeated efforts to confront a culture of persistent violence. The moral high ground is sometimes a graveyard as well.

This has always been the way of peaceful protest and your admonitions have always been the tact of conservative political response. The cry has always been against the protester "Can't you find more productive ways?" The real cry is "do it our way or we will do away with you."
