Problem is that everything happened at a more or less official event. This means that the host is responsible for whatever goes on during the event they organised.

If CCP fails to take action, the 'can of worms' is much worse and much larger. His actions have made us all look bad, now with close to 10 mainstream media outlets picking up on this, we have a double black eye, because he is Chairman of the CSM. He should step down and save us more embarrassment.

No, just treat them with the respect and dignity due every human being, and in this gentleman's case, a little bit of compassion probably wouldn't have hurt.

This game has always been harsh, in some ways even harsher when I started (back in 2004 there was no insurance in 0.0). But I think it's interesting to note that the big 0.0 alliances back then, Curse Alliance and Stain Alliance, both serious rivals, becames allies at the end (to the best of my recollection at the least). I think that says something about the general atmosphere of this game back then.

IIRC, even the most bitter combatants still treated their advarsaries with at least some respect back then. There was little need to mock the enemies you defeated.

And if they don't they do so as well. What about investors ? Sony ? I don't think they'll be knocking the door down to put more money into CCP.

I doubt Sony cares that The Mittani made fun of a stupid person at fanfest.

Clever boy. You didn't mention his name or the specific event so that means your not posting about the same thing that already has 15 locked threads and one nearing 1,000 posts if not more than already.

HOWEVER,

I see what you did thar.

Yes you are responsible for everything you say or do, reguardless if your on the internet or not. How did your parents fail you so bad that they could not teach you simple things such as taking responsiblity for your actions? Your parents are very bad parents.

Reguardless of if you think it was right or not, you are responsible for everything you say and everything you do. PERIOD.
What makes you think you are NOT responsible for your actions?

As someone on the CSM panel, they should realize that they are NOT just another player but a face of the player base and should act as such. You should not try and setup a game wide event to try and get someone to commit suicide. That is just wrong. Spin it anyway you want. It is wrong, joking or not, it is wrong. Someone that is as old as Mittani should know right from wrong, if not then like your parents, they suck at being parents and failed Mittani.

Mittani did something wrong, he should say I am sorry, that is simple manners. Had he came right out and said, I am sorry, that was wrong, I was drunk and should not have said that. This would have all been over with but instead, Mittani and his sheep army want to make this into a huge deal and gain as much attention as they can because their parents sucked as parents and did not hug them enough.

Earth to idiot. You there idiot? It is wrong to try and push someone to commit suicide. End of story.
If you do not know this is wrong, your parents failed you and are very bad parents.

He was wrong and if he was a real man, which he is not, he would have sad sorry, I should not have said that stuff while drunk. That would have been the end of it but nope, he takes the coward way out and hides while letting his sheep run around posting nonsense like you have all day. How does it feel being a sheep all the time?

Glad this discussion was effective.

This isn't (despite what a lot of people in this thread has posted) NOT about whether someone should be removed from their position, or whether they may or may not have said something embarrassing, but rather what you can do if you should encounter someone who IS like this, and not just crying pubbie tears.

1. isnt that pretty much the same thing at this point? pretty sure only an alliance leader is going to get elected with 6k more votes than anyone else, which, btw, i thought you fuckheads were required to post that number in all of your posts now

2. hokay

3. irrelevant, just killing the guy in game is no big deal, even killing him after he seemed suicidal is still just the game. however, the level of harassment, and encouraging others to harass the player is against the rules you agree to when you play. but of course we all know he doesnt have to follow the rules

Agree with OP, it's really sad to see people think they own the world as well, when all they own is a little corner of an internet spaceship game.

This particular person I have never really "liked" but I was always willing to allow my dislike to only live in-game and would never really be something that made me disrespect him if I were to ever meet or speak to him in some other context.

I fail to see the difference between someone doing what he has just done and someone standing outside an outpatient clinic laughing at and mocking the people coming out the psych ward.

It's pretty bad behavior, CCP should be stomping on this.

You know a thread caused a shitstorm when a thread needs to be created to respond to the **** storm and keep it going in two separate threads.

Shitstormception.
