What the mittani has done as far as representing the players within the constraints of the csm should actually be applauded. He has done some very good work along with the rest of the csm members (who people seem t forget about he's not the only one who was voted for) but this went above the pale tbh it a is a clear violation of his position and he should be reprimanded for it.

It is one of the most clear cases of bullying ever committed to the Internet that i have witnessed,You wanna grief the guy in game go for it as long as you are within the Eula fill your boots, going onto a live broadcast and then verbally bashing the guy and getting the rest of the eve community to do the same is wrong however you try to justify it.

Maybe people are over reacting to this maybe not but ccp must act upon this with a clear and concise method of investigation.

These threads really just need to be locked before they cause more harm to the PR department than they already have.

Edit: I don't believe I'm actually posting this, it seems rediculous to have to even consider it.

This goes way beyond the game. This guy is seriously messed up and needs to be dealt with harshly and quickly. There is nothing playful about what he did. His detachment from reality could cost a human being their life... and for what? So that he can get some sick satisfaction?

Completely disgusting. Removing him from CSM is the least they should do- involving the authorities would be the proper response to level of real life harassment.

I wish for him to be removed and form the CSM as I do not want anyone who thinks less of mentally ill people on the CSM, as this is showing him as leading part of the community who he is meant to represent.

I personally do not want him there because of that, and CCP should take appropriate action against him and other players who think the same way.

People who are mentally unstable probably shouldn't be playing Eve.

So why do you ? Smile

Just because I enjoy trolling pubbies doesn't mean I'm mentally unstable. Sorry to crush your dream.

No worries pleb, but to be honest I have much better dreams than that Shocked

Useless drama.

Who knows... maybe the troubled guy with ingame mail address was just trolling goons after handing them some isk.

Are you scientologists or something? Why all the denial over psychological conditions?

You can go look up the definition of mania and sociopathy yourself and see what the symptoms and requirements for diagnoses are. There is no ambiguity.

I think a big part of the problem is pretty much the entire list of sociopathy symptoms are things goons admire.

Unfortunately quite true... What makes it even worse, media likes to serve this kind of news while its hot and this kind of crap coverage is consummated with something akin to religious zeal by readers/viewers.

It only requires a few overzealous reporters to start digging on the EVE forum looking for the threads on this subject and it will be enough to unveil all the useless threads made on this and all the replies, for better or worse, to the people that are currently out there for goon-blood.

When you put the above in the kind of context that MMOs is associated with these days, it makes EVE look worse than it actually is. Look at all the stories about "insert MMO name" where a player did something bad to another player: someone beating the crap out of another player to more hilarious crap where some asian-MMO player visits some other player ending up with locking his host in the bathroom so he could strip the other guy's toon.

Therefore, it's easy to associate MMOs to provoking or endorsing antisocial behaviour. Especially since EVE is advertised as a hard and cutthroat's sandbox where scamming, griefing and antisocial behaviour is tolerated or endorsed.

I don't care about what happened at the panel and about the story... My opinions on that kind of drastic action are rather fragrant and voicing them would get me some nice time off the forums.

But one thing I don't agree with is bullies mostly because, under the coverage of the anonymity provided by the Interwebz, they get quite a lot of followers.

I'm not saying I endorse the guy's behaviour at the panel or that I "want justice to be served". I'm indifferent. What's I'm getting at is that such behaviour should be stomped hard by CCP to exceeding the game's limits.

All in all, it's quite a pity for EVE/CCP to acquire a bad rap on this.

There's over ten thousand accounts in the Goon bloc, nobody outside of the CFC voted for Mittani.

CCP's investigation is a dog and pony show, they won't do anything to their buddy despite him calling for players to harass another player until he commits suicide. If any other player started a thread with that same request "Harass this guy until he dies, he has a history of mental instability", he'd be instantly banned from forums and game.

Hell, all you have to do to get banned is tell a dev to "die in a fire" or expose CCP's t2 BPO scandal... now you'll get to see how hypocritical CCP is with their punishments when they don't do anything to Mittani.

Funny, that's the first thing i thought about Mittani when i saw him at fanfest. Guy seemed pretty manic. When he tried to rally everyone to drive someone to suicide it only confirmed my suspicion the guy has psychological problems.

And where did you get your psychology degree? Don't say Stanford because another troll already used that one.

If I didn't know better, I would almost think that you mean it when you tell Mittani how much you love him after wiping off your lips. That fact really has nothing to do with the quoted statement above, I am just really impressed with your stamina to fervently and solely protect the man in so many threads.

So a guy mocked a crying carebear playing the sympathy card during 'fanfest' aka 'drinkfest - so what?

If the guy was GENUINELY suicidal, there is no way he would be playing Eve. Having been to the brink myself a few years back - and Im not joking, I was standing on the top of the bridge - a guy who is actually on the brink of suicide would not be playing a computer game, this was just a guy playing the sympathy card, fishing for isk or at least to be left alone to mine. In other words, worthy of being mocked.

I think this is the right thing to do.

Little bit immature behaviour on MIttani's behalf, perhaps a public apology would politically correct.

This does not mean I support drama queen behaviour of the victim, or that this would make Mittani an ******* in my eyes or any way incapable of continuing his very good work as CSM chair- just a bad judgement call from someone representing the whole player base in his position.

In game, anything goes, but what is kosher in New Eden shouldn't really be expanded to RL in my honest opinion.

A ban would obviously be totally out of the line, get over yourselves people. It wasn't more than cruel humour in the wrong place and at the wrong time- life goes on.

I see the Mittani / Goonswarm sycophants are out in force. Is it really so hard to admit that the guy messed up? Do you really have to dig the hole deeper?

Weaklings should not play Eve because the Goons and their ilk say so? And if they do, they should just take whatever punishment they get and deal with it? Where have I heard that before. Oh, right, it was on the playground just before somebody's fist caught my nose.

If you can actually justify this guy's showing the eve mail at the forum and inviting the audience to contact him and help him toward suicide, then you are a lost cause. If you don't think he should suffer consequences for this, you are not much of a human being either. What he did was wrong. What the CCP rep did was wrong in letting the panel happen after the eve mail was shown. Sure, we know that CCP can't prevent the use of in-game emails in general. But the fact that they couldn't stop one from being put up at a panel at their own Fanfest indicates they have a lot of thinking to do.

Defending him "just because" tells the rest of us how weak and faulty you are as a person. There is no "just because" that can explain this level of simple cruelty. Mittani did not need to show off this way, it was his choice to do so, even though he should have known better. He wanted to prove what a big man he is, and now he has stepped in it. Or on it.

If CCP lets this pass, then they will confirm that this game is not for decent people to play, even decent people who want to play at being a villain in the game. Is there even one word of apology from Mittani for this? I doubt it, but I'm not going to take the time to read all this stuff to find out.

When I screw up I say so. He has screwed up. Where is the statement that says so? If this were me, I would be all over these forums apologizing. And nobody would have to tell me that I had given up any right I had to run CSM. The only thing this man is fit to lead is lambs to the slaughter.

The day is coming when there will be physical fights at Fanfest over in-game issues. This game raises that kind of emotions in people, and creates grudges in players that will never go away. I expect any game does that to a degree, but this one does so deliberately. CCP has to find some way to say that the behavior is acceptable in the game but not at Fanfest or anywhere else in real life.

What's there to investigate ? look at the video and see some guy in a wizard hat say something he should or shouldn't have.
Either act on it or don't.
End of investigation.
