Trying to figure out what exactly it is that makes these Goons tick. After watching Mitten's display the past 2 years now, I really want to know what could cause a person to be so arrogant and full of himself.

But these forums. I'm reading threads and I'm looking for the snide troll remarks. I'm looking for people talking about how great they are, but there is none of this! EVERYONE IS BEING CIVIL TO EACH OTHER.

Either I'm missing a piece of the puzzle or my eyes are playing tricks on me.

It was like walking into a party expecting a bunch of drunken frat guys screaming obscenities, downing beer-bongs and punching each other, but what I found where people wearing top-hats and monocles, drinking tea.

The fact that you have to pay 10 dollars to post there combined with very strict rules and moderators that are not afraid to enforce them tend to do that (Unless you post in FYAD or FYAD-lite subforums where moderation is lighter or non-excistent). SA really is one of the better forums out there

Yeah, I just spent the last hour and a half reading all of their rules and lurking some more. Simply incredible.

What I found really interesting was the GoonWaffe recruitment thread and the application process, along with everything that goes with it.

If you are a regular at SA you know there's quite a diversity of opinion and in-fact many of us don't see eye to eye with many of the MMO HMO spinoffs. They tend to promote Join4Guild membership inflation which is good for funding the forums, but bad for posting quality in general.

I've been a member of SA longer than EVE has been around, but I would not join Goonwaffe in it's current form. It has long-since become a way to funnel EVE players into SA, rather than the other way around.
