That said , i watched the panel as so many threads have been made about it.I have to say not being a fan of goons/test or CSM in general i did not see anything wrong with how they acted besides that one comment .Just grown ups acting like kids , something me and my friends usually do too when we go out without the wife/kids for a change every now and then.You know boys will be boys ...

I don't know if it's sarcasm or not but I'll try and explain this for you.

The first two lines are a setup, pretending I am angry about certain shenanigans during the Alliance panel, making out I believe the entire panel should be serious.

The third line reveals I believe it is Kelduum's behaviour that is aberrant. Kelduum is the leader of EVE Uni and his presentation was rather more sober. The reveal that I do not think anyone should be making serious speeches, contrary to the topic and therefore the reader's perception of my meaning in the first two lines, is designed to be humourous.

And you had to go and bloody ruin the joke didn't you

There is a video of them handing beers to people as they get off the plane.

I was on that bus, it was awesome. About a dozen CCP people threw an unannounced welcome party at the airport, stuffed us all into a bus and gave us as many beers as we had time to drink during the trip. I also recall a bottle of JD and a bottle of whisky getting passed around.

I laughed harder during this panel than any other.

It was more fun to watch than some of the CCP-run ones (what's with the Module presentation being so dry for such an awesome concept? Even Sreeg's security one was entertaining and it had NOTHING to do with me, for the most part).

If you were offended, don't watch. I think its pretty much implied that the Alliance Panel and the Quiz show are going to be offensive, at least it SHOULD be common knowledge by now.

Can't wait to dual box my Dust toon and EVE toon on the same machine!

That panel was dirt. Eve's often been referred to as a game for more mature mmo players. What we saw was just embarrassing. I think CCP should be embarrassed that these people are the best our community has to offer. It really reminded me to think again about why I'm even out here with these guys. They sound like a bunch of way too cool dudes, fresh out of high school having their first drink. Whoahh I'm so drunk man. Not a moment of character was had. I'm hanging out with a bunch of losers.

On the upside, I really enjoyed speaker number two - the wormhole diver.

lol +1 for the instructions, but buying alcohol with food stamps is easier than you guys think. I worked the graveyard shift at a stop and rob in one of the rougher parts of town while I was in college. What they would do is come in and buy something cheap that was on the approved items list, you know actual food. They would then use the change to buy beer and smokes.

Is this really the case? I wasn't there. Seems to me that copying someone's EvE mail for a presentation would take some amount of preparation and forethought. Would being drunk then be an excuse?

Besides, people don't actually change when they're drunk. Some of the facade drops, that's all. Being drunk has never been a valid excuse for anything.

I wasn't there, haven't seen it...but if you find yourself needing to say, "He was drunk," in order to continue supporting the guy...maybe you should rethink that support.

OK, I was about to post how I thought nothing in the presentation was overboard. That the TEST and Mittens guy were obviously hammered, and think they're more important than they really are, but that people who get worked up about the game enough to send you hate eve mail are just ******* funny and should be made fun of. I do it a lot too...

I was also going to say that nobody can be taken to task for coddling people's feelings that are just too ****** up to exist in modern society. If you want to off yourself, well whatever....not a lot anyone can do about it and just because someone was mean to you doesn't mean they did it.

But yeah, saying, "If you want to make the guy really kill himself his name is...." during the comment section...dude's a ****. That's going past that point and entering a realm of incivility that really has no place anywhere. Did he mean it? Probably. Sometimes our darker natures are more apparent when we're drunk as we have less control of them...not an excuse really but inhibitions are important. Hopefully that's all it was and the dude doesn't really mean to imply that EvE players should all go bully this guy until he off's himself....because that's just ******* sick as ****.

Nice to know that this is the representation we EvE players voted for....

Still, if the guy DOES off himself because he got bullied in a game...that's really his own ******* fault. I've been through a **** of a lot worse and really have no sympathy for people that use it as an excuse to fail.

The guy strikes me as a total douche bag, actually a lot of the group-think something awful culture makes for some cringe-worthy people, but should the way people act always be carefully controlled and vetted to be appropriate for all audiences and environments? No. I'd rather see people freely drink and have a good time and say what they please than watch some stodgy event in which the participants' main concern is how their actions will be perceived by viewers days later.

Which I guess is fine for a what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas attitude.

But it doesn't excuse the aftermath on the forums. Or the fact that Mittens can't man up and see the importance of the subject when he has in fact sobered up. Maybe SA trivialises a number of things as a culture, maybe as a result Mittens has peer pressure to "perform" as the demonic clown he is, but at the end of the day it can be clear to see which individuals have what kind of values and standards as a result.

True that. People should be unapologetic about who they are. I don't have a problem with people not liking that person though.

Sort of like a racist ranting his racist crap. I support their right to do so and I'm glad when they do...for it allows me to be fully aware of how full of **** they are.

And yeah....I actually do think the comparison is valid.
