Hi,

I'm looking for a corporation that is casual player friendly (I refrain from using noob because I'm no new comer to sandbox MMO's. I'm a SWG refugee :/

I'm just looking for some protection while getting started and the opportunity to be able to really assist and impact the growth of a guild willing to take me on. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have please feel free to message me. I will be playing tonight with a corp or not but I would much rather be playing with a corp :)

Cheers!

Check out the forums' Alliance & Corporation Recruitment channel, mate. You'll see plenty of corps to choose from. Welcome!

You are a newb (and hopefully not a noob; big difference). Other than "there's lots of people" Eve doesn't have very much in common with other MMOs. Embrace that and try to learn, rather than trying to hold on to nebulous gamer pride.

Second, try to change your vocab from "guild" to "corp". Eve people usually have very negative reactions to people referring to "guilds".

It's a good first step that you want to find a corp to play with. Eve is much better when cooperating with others. I would recommend finding a newbie-friendly corp that has people who won't mind showing you the ropes. Ed: however, while you are still a trial user, many corps will be reluctant to recruit you for fear of you not subscribing and becoming a deadweight, or being a throwaway spy alt character. Nothing against you personally, but it's just the recruitment atmosphere.

Welcome to Eve!

Hi Petrus,

Thanks for responding! I was thinking it would be pretty hard for me to get a guild to allow me to join on the trial so if its a requirement it won't bother me to pay I mean its only $15. I'm just so tired of the theme park MMO world :/ .

I'm hoping to find a newb corp that will give me a shot so if anyone knows someone please fill me in!!!!

It is unfortunately rare to find a corp of any quality that would accept people on trial. Too many corp thieves and spies around.

Do not look for a newbie corp. Look for an established corporation that accepts also newbies. Slight difference but pretty important in Eve where it is possible for rookies and vets to meaningfully work together.

I'd advertise EM but you do not mention being into RP so I'll skip. :)

Good. Smile

If you're interested in lowsec PvP and faction warfare, we could talk about getting you into my corp (http://rifterlings.com). However, I recommend having run the tutorials and the Sisters of Eve mission arc before joining, so you have your bearings at least a little... especially since the SoE arc becomes unavailable once you join because we are at war with the Amarr Empire and Caldari State, and the mission arc takes you through their space.

True facts. Rifterlings isn't the most established corp (still sort of small), but it is founded and run by people who have been playing and PvPing for years, so at least we like to pretend that we know what we're doing. If we do or not is another story.

Petrus,

I have done PVP on almost every game I have played and I was pretty successful on WOW (Not saying that makes me any good here).

I will be running through all the tutorials over the weekend. I hadn't really decided on how I was going to play the game but I typically lean towards pvp and I love the idea of mining. One of the reasons why I wanted a corp was so I could get some guidance as far as that goes.

Let me know if your interested in having me join.

Thanks,

Tamu if your looking for PVP thrills this is your final stop.

Other mmos dont have any penaltys for death but eve does.

You might think thats crap but it makes pvp incredibly exhilarating.

Its like playing video games and then gambling in Las Vegas.

The stakes cannot be higher. Twisted

Once you subscribe give Red vs Blue a try or Agony Unleashed to get your legs under you to get how pvp works, then branch out into something more established. Eve Uni seems to be anti PVP these days but there a great place to learn anything and everything about eve.

PVP opportunities abound and are what make this game great:

You can fight as a grunt soldier in the Massive null sec alliance fleets.
You fight in the back alleys of low sec and roam through null sec with your mates in smaller pirate fleets.
You can even become a gun for hire and join mercenary corps and get paid for your efforts.
You can fight for the faction militias and war over empire territory in lowsec.
And yes you can resort to griefing: tricking missioners and miners or any one unlucky enough to fall into your trap and kill people who dont normally or dont know how to fight.

All these things will be open to you in time. But first bud Id suggest you shell out the 15$ and get it over with.

Because you mentioned not being sure what you want to do and no one has linked this yet, Stuff to do in Eve. It's pretty epic Blink

And I'll echo what everyone else has said, find a newbie-friendly corp (not a newbie corp)*, figure out what you want to do in Eve, and have fun going for it.

*The distinction between newbie-friendly corps and newbie corps is that newbie-friendly corps are groups of experienced players who want to help teach people about the game. Newbie corps are the blind leading the blind, people who don't know Eve very well trying to teach people about the game.

Am not bothering with a corps myself for the 14 day trial as because this is so different to anything else i have played i want to learn everything i can so when i do go for a corps i won't be too much of a hinderence on the basics.

One thing i have learnt is go it alone for a while, get used to the surroundings, make your own mistakes and don't jump into the first corps that will take you or you may just end up hopping until you find the right one.

Hello there!

Finding a corp can be really rough and it takes quite a bit of patience. Because of a similar question in an unrelated thread i ended up writing a small "guide" on how to find a corp where several people have been adding in their own advice.
Look over it and hopefully you will find some advice and avoid joining the wrong corp.

Eve Uni isn't anti PvP. It has divisions dedicated to it. It is however anti war, as war interferes with all of the other non-pvp education. The new wardec mechanics should help E-Uni avoid a lot of the loldecs.

Finding a good corp is the cornerstone to a good eve experience and In all reality the best corps are the ones who really do not advertise unlike test, goons, rvb, or eve u. Not that any are bad. Though often it can take a few tries to find something that suits you. The 2 big pieces of advice one is while searching make sure the corp is knowledgeable and willing to teach (this can be an issue sometimes). Second know what you wanna do in Eve, if you wanna do the Indy site seek out an Indy corp, pvp a pvp focused corp, and so on. Heck there are some that are just jack of all trade corps. Anyway if you have further questions you're welcome to mail me or pm.

Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if you're in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. Pub Channel: Lost Souls Trading Post
