EVE Planetary Planner is a small tool I create to have a quick and easy overview of Planetary Interaction in EVE Online.

Planetary interaction is not very complicated by itself.
But it still easy to get lost along the production line, and make mistakes that could cost you, or your corp, millions or billions of ISKs.

The tool can display the complete production line for any product that can be made from Planetary Interaction.
It also display information about the time needed to produce each component needed for the final product.

Now this tool is still under development.
I am adding feature as fast as I can think of them, and implement them.
It is also possible that there are still a few bugs that I missed in all my testing.

I will update the News section when I do modifications to the tool.
So be sure to check it from time to time.

If you find any bugs, or inconsistencies in the data, please leave a message in this topic (or that one).
I will come read it often and try to fix the bugs as soon as possible.

Please note that this tool is still under heavy development.
I have LOT of ideas for it that I will implement as soon as I can.

Also, Planetary Interaction is still under development by CCP.
It is subject to changes in the future.
But I will adapt the tool when such change occur.

You can get the tool here.

  • Find planets in systems by Range and use them in the Reverse Lookup
  • Automatically check for updates when starting
  • Now supporting the new Extractors with heads
  • Reverse lookup can filter products by level
  • Reverse lookup shows the minimum number of planets needed.
  • Compute duration until preset day/hour
  • Filter systems by security level
  • Filter systems by having or not stations
  • Double click on Find results will open a browser to the EVE Dotlan map of the selected system
  • Contains the WH systems
  • Suggestion algorithm for best level 2 product to setup on a planet
  • Added current cycle display in Planet Data popup
  • Added support to pre-fill Storages (Storage Facility, Launchpad)

HELP Requested:

I would like to ask for my tool users to go support this feature post I created in the Features and Ideas Discussion forum.

What I am asking for is an api that will provide the planetary interaction data of a character.
With that information I could actually automate the process to fillup the extractors as well as the notifications.

So please, help me getting this feature in the EVE API by showing your support in this thread and bumping it.

It is as much for me as for you. Big smile

Nifty looking tool, a few feature requests i could recommend would be allowing more than 6 planets to be planned as some ppl run multiple PI alts to extract with.

Also with the run times maybe a way to set 1 extractor to pull two materials? it's pretty easy to go P0->P2 all on one planet and pull enough material from 1 extractor alternating between the two items needed.

Hi,
Thanks for your input.

You can actually go beyond 6 planets.
On the 'Planets Plan' tab, select '--' in 'Interplanetary Consolidation'.
That unlock the 'Unlimmited' planets mode.

As for allowing 1 extractor to pull 2 materials, I do not think will implement it.
The reason being that I try to get that tool as near to the ingame mechanism as possible.
The way you have 1 extractor pull 2 materials is having you go and change it manually. (ingame)
As it requires your interaction it defeats the principle of automation.

It is true that I authorize unlimited number of planets. But that is to take into account people running PI on multiple characters/accounts.

Still I appreciate the suggestion.
Any suggestion is welcomed and will be considered. Big smile

I uploaded a new version to the download section (you can also use the Update feature from the tool itself).

This new version adds support to filter product levels in the reverse lookup tab.

Been playing around with the tool a bit more... Thanks for pointing out how to make planets unrestricted!

One other suggestion would be making wormhole systems searchable as well as the k-space systems on the find tab.

This seems really nice. I`ve been doing all my planetary planning in handwritten sheets of paper (Not a fan of Excel or computer writing anyway) that was scaring my entire family when I posted them on my bedroom wall.

Having everything on an automated tool will be great.

Haven't tested yet, as I am not on my gamer PC right now, but I will and give you feedback as soon as possible.

I really look forward to working with this.

Well the problem is that I do not have access to WH data.
All the data I have is from the EVE database dump.

Unless someone knows how to extract that information there is nothing I can do about it Sad

I just added a minor feature to the reverse lookup tab.
The grid will now show per product the minimum number of planets needed to produce it.
This takes into account the selected planets for the reverse lookup.

What does this mean:
Take a product that can be produced completly (from extractors to final product) on a single planet (ex: Plasma)
And that product can also be produced with a combination of 2 planets (ex: Lava + gas)
If in the reverse lookup you select Plasma you will see that this product can be produced on 1 planet.
But, if you select Lava and Gas and NOTPlasma then the product will show that it needs 2 planets to be produced.

This feature should help to decide what is the most profitable given the planets in a system.
Is it better to use 1 planet to produce a lot of units of a level 2 products, or produce some of its components on 1 planet and the remaining on another ?
That way, if you do not want to bother with transfering products between planets you can instead focus on products you can make on single planets.

Note: the number of planets does not take into account the CPU/Powergrid needed to extract/procress/product the components.
So, while it is true that you can produce Sterile Conduits using only 2 planets, the reality is that with the CPU and Powergrid needed by all the extractors and facilities it is not feasible in the game. What?

I have changed the formating of the sell/buy columns in the reverse lookup as well as their alignment for better viewing.

Are the sell/buy columns switched? Average buy is higher than average sell?

I get the data from EVE-Central.
So I use the same name as them.
It's true that it is a bit confusing.

But the Buy column is actually the price at which you will sell.
And the Sell column is the price at which you would buy.

I have to come up with names that reflect better what they are.

I uploaded version 6.7.

This version includes some minor bug fixes.

And also a new small feature.
There is now a new tab available 'Tools'.
On this tab I will put various small utilities (as I create them).

For now the only tool available is to compute the duration until the next 'whatever' day and hour you want.

I tend to let my plan run from saturday to saturday.
So I can take my time during saturday breakfast to put together my production plan for the week.
But, it happened a few time that I actually messed up my plan.
And I had to go midweek to stop the production line and fix/change it.
Then I had to think (or take note) of how much time was remaining on the previous plan to always finish the production around the same time on saturday morning.

Or, I simply get busy during he saturday morning with the familly and I forget (or simply do not have time) to reset my productions for the week.
So when I can get ingame later I have then to calculate how much time I want the production to run.

With this new tool, simply select the day and time you want the production to finish and it will tell you the duration you should set your extractors to.
It will give you the extact days/hours you need to finish right on time.
But remember that the longer you run the extractors the more time it takes for a cycle to complete.
So you might not be able to put it exactly at 5 days 11 hours, but you can set your extractors at 5 days 10 hours or 5 days 12 hours.

I hope this will help you as much as it helps me.

As usual bug reports, comments and suggestions are welcomed.
As well as donations. Big smile

Bug Found
Production Plan Tab
Quantity to produce, set a number and you get an error "System.NullReferenceException".

Suggestions to Find Tab
System security filter - we can set a range - example 0.3 - 0.4
System has station - checkbox
System has high sec connection - checkbox
System name links to Dotlan maps

played around with it a bit and it has some nice features... my problem was that it didn't scale very well when you have a lot of planets set up... (ie... 40) tended to crash.

Could you not run multiple instances?

More than six planets and all that it entails - how do you stay sane?

My current setup requires at least 9 planets planets minimum when you reduce the copies, and I think it was having the large number of routes set up on my factory planet after making my extracting planets that really bogged the hamsters down on this program. And as far as my sanity goes... spreadsheets... I finally caught the weird spreadsheet disease and made a personal PI profit calculator to factor in tax rates and figure out build costs to maintain my sanity.

Thanks for the bug report.
I fixed it.
And I am adding some of those suggestions.
I should have something working tomorrow I think.
