What ship would be the best at freighter repair in the event of an attempted gank? Using hull reppers and a command mod?

I want to escort my alt freighter in the same corp with a webber and reppers.

Gankers rely on alpha, you can not repair that.

This might help you.

Don't bother. If anyone is going to gank your freighter they will bring enough fire power to take it out before you would even get a repper cycle off.

You asked me once, what was in Room 101. I told you that you knew the answer already. Everyone knows it. The thing that is in Room 101 is the worst thing in the world.

How many ships does it take to alpha a freighter?

Capital hull repairers are the only ones with a small cycle (if you consider about 7 sec cycle small), every other hull repairer is about 20/30seconds cycle for a ridiculous amount of ehp repaired.

This simple fact is already limiting your options and the only high sec capital with slots to equip those is Orca but not even sure you have enough pg/cpu to do so. (not IG atm)

In terms of a FAILED gank attempt, anything would work if you can hook up at a safe spot and blast it with hull, shield, and armour reps at the same time.
Of course, to help boost things up a bit, you'd need a decent drone bay. Since you won't be doing it in combat, you won't need a logistics-bonused ship so much.

For PREVENTION, resists. You can't tank a freighter, so gang links up the wazoo. Boosting skills, warfare links, and DON'T AUTOPILOT THE DAMNED THING.

Yea if your cargo is valuable enough they might bring up to 20 just to be safe, make sure it doesnt fail

Figure 13k alpha per nado at a cost of about 60m each.

Best escort would be a command ship fitting armor/shield/agility warfare links. Maybe toss in a mindlink for the extra bit of armor/shield. Regardless though, it can still be popped.

If your freighter is in hull, it is a /wrists event. Remote hull reps take so long, and are so cap heavy, it is dastardly. You honestly need a BS with 2 large hull RR's and another BS feeding it cap. The reps are 230/6s and one large RR will deplete a BS's cap in 2 minutes.

Assuming your freighter has 120K hull damage this is 521 cycles, taking 3100s or 52 minutes, for one repper. If you cap yourself out every 2 minutes and take 5 minutes to recharge, you are now looking at around 6 hours.

Have fun!

your best bet is to simply bring an alt that can target and shoot them as soon as they show up. concord will be on top of your freighter as they go to alpha if you live through the first round they may die faster. Or so I believe this would work?

I messed around in EFT a bit sticking large remote hull reps on BSs. Generally speaking, cap stability with 6 large hull reps going should be workable for most players.

All the battleships I messed with can be fitted for cap stability with 6 large hull rep Is going. Just stuff all the rigs, mids, and lows with CCCs, Cap recharger IIs, and Cap Relay IIs. The old 3xCCC Raven rotting in my hangar can reach 422 cap/s with my skills. That's enough to run 6 large hull reps continuously, and leaves a couple extra highs so you can fit a couple armor reps. With maxed out skills EFT says a lot of T1 BSs can run 7. T1 Amarr boats have CPU issues that limit them to 6, but a Navy Apoc can fit 8 and remain stable. That seems like a bit of a waste though. I think I'll just use that old Raven if my freighter ever gets shot up and somehow manages to not explode.

If you're really worried you can bring an alt and just web your freighter through. 3 or 4 webs and you can insta warp away.

Just like others have said, you cant remote repair alpha strikes.

The best way of avoiding getting alphaed in the first place is to fill your freighter with useless items.

What you do is you fill your freighter with lots and lots of useless low value items. Several hundred or perhaps thousands of items. Aim for low volume items, not modules but salvage loot and moon materials minerals etc.

This is to "cloak" the really valuable items. It will take you some time to buy these but you wanna survive, right?

By the time the ganksquad finishes reading that gigantic cargo scan item list you'll often be long gone.

I have wasted quite a bit of time training up an awesome freighter alt pilot. In the interim, I discovered Red Frog Freight. If you need something moved, just courier contract it to them. They are amazingly efficient. Plus, on the off chance someone manages to blow up your stuff while it is in their ship, you are covered by the collateral. Speedy, insured, worry-free service.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.
