Can you add a new column in the overview, with numbers?
Perhaps between distance and name
Something like this

Distance....... N.....Name
5.000 m.........1...... Wolf
5.322 m.........2.......Kan
5.455 m.........3.......Fer
6.125 m.........4.......Io
7.269 m.........5.......Sir me
7.754 m.........6.......hero

Could be useful for distributing multiple targets at same time,
especially for ew ships.
another place that could be useful is in the chat

this would be better in the watchlist box than the overview

Either you're talking about tagging (which is already in the game) or you're talking about counting (which CCP shouldn't need to do for you). Either way, it's working fine ATM, you just need to learn how to use it.

@ Op, look up tags.... It is a column you can add to your overview that shows numbers and letters on targets, and you can organize your overview by tag. Tags can only be set by a person in a command position in fleet (squad, wing, fleet commanders).

This is a good idea!

No, no, no do you read the title? The description, the example, pelase

The idea is not to involve the FC

For example let say one fleet has 40 logistic
and you have 8 arazu with 5 dampeners each and you want to put one dampener in each logistic, how a FC can do that in time? Impossibl
If I have the column
distance........ N.... Name... Typ
5.000 m ........1..... RED....... Log
5.123 m ........2..... RED....... Log
5.234 m ........3..... RED....... Log
5.346 m ........4..... RED....... Log
5.654 m ........5..... RED....... Log
5.788 m ........6..... RED....... Log
5.889 m ........7..... RED....... Log
6.000 m ........8..... RED....... Log
6.123 m ........9..... RED....... Log
6.234 m ......10..... RED....... Log
6.346 m ......11..... RED....... Log
6.654 m ......12..... RED....... Log
6.788 m ......13..... RED....... Log
6.889 m ......14..... RED....... Log
7.000 m ......15..... RED....... Log
7.123 m ......16..... RED....... Log
7.234 m ......17..... RED....... Log
7.346 m ......18..... RED....... Log
7.654 m ......19..... RED....... Log

The recon fleet only need to do is create a channel, and if you are first you attack the first 5, if you are third you attack, 3*5= 15 and the four previous
Now its more clear?
do this, it should not take more than 10 minutes to a programmer

Lol, it's funny when people who don't know anything about programming say "It shouldn't take more than xx minutes for a programmer..." Nice try OP, good troll on the end - I see what you did there!

Ok, now to your idea to replace your need to count *gasp* ON YOUR OWN?!?

You would simply see the closest ships to your numbered. Woot. However, your buddy, who is 5000m from you, will have a slightly different list, as the distances to him are different, and in a fleet engagement, the numbers would change. How else would the numbers be assigned?

I see the point that you are trying to make, but what it comes down to is that you are trying to replace good FC-skills and communication with overview tools that simply hand you target designations. Go fly with some other FCs - when you fly with a good one, you'll know what I mean.

If I can do in a spreadsheet I think is not so difficult

Set as name and all see the same list you can use tabs too

I not try to replace anything, maybe you are a F1 warrior, a don’t know but I try to do is create a simple tool for distributing multiple targets at same time

....

You don't get the point - you're using a spreadsheet for which the code has already been written...

How about you tell me how long it takes you, from scratch, to code the program that can do the spreadsheet and then lets talk.

"If I can do in a spreadsheet I think is not so difficult..." <---- I'm still laughing, hahaha...

The biggest problem with your proposal, is you haven't declared HOW the numbers are auto-assigned.

The numbers of ships on grid, the types of ships on grid, the name of characters of ships on grid, as well as the distance between the ships on grid is very dynamic as people blow up, warp out, and move....

So, with such a dynamic environment, how exactly do you propose allocating a moderately static number set to them, such that ship #42 on my screen is ship number #42 on my fleet mates screen?

Do you not see the difficulty in programming this??

How? I could do it myself, I take a white ribbon, placed it on my monitor on an empty column and write N at first, then in the first row a one, in the second, guess what?, yes, a two and three and the third so on the entire screen, the problem with this method is, one, I have to ask others to do so and two, I use the monitor for other things

Hahahahahahahaomghahahahahahahaha....

You're seriously talking about taping paper to your monitor to track targets?!? This thread keeps getting better and better! I'll be sure to point my friends this way if they need a good laugh, hahaha...

I know you're just trolling at this point, but keep it up, this is too funny!

more simply, put numbers to the rows
