Logitech G15 Keyboard and EVE Market Trading

I've read in a few places that this keyboard is allowed. Is that still true? Also, will it work with Windows 7?

If it's allowed, I was wondering if some shortcuts can be created on the keyboard to execute Market related commands that are otherwise not possible to create.

Would I be able to:

-Create a shortcut button on the keyboard to 'View Market Details' of an outstanding order in my Orders window?
-Create a shortcut button that performs the Select All command (you can't remap Cntl+A in the game)?

Right now, updating outstanding orders takes about 6 steps per order. Doing over 100 of them is a pain in the ass. With one or two shortcuts mapped to the G15, it would make life a lot easier.

I also posted in the "I want your little things" thread (page 101, about 10 posts down) on how the order updating process sucks at the moment, and my suggestions on how to tweak it a little.

Thanks!

AutoHotkey can perform the same functions and won't cost you a cent.

Do a search here on "Logitech G15" and you will likely find loads of info including official CCP replies.

And will probably get you banned, IIRC automation software is a nono, and AHK was also the basis for quite a few of the mining bot programs

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

AutoHotkey does the exact same thing as the G15 driver. The bots using it also use a screen reader for automatic actions without the need for human interaction. Something you can also do with a G15.

Got a G15 keyboard and I must say its very nice; I don't use it much in Eve, probably as I don't PvP (found it very nice when playing WAR PvP). Just map keyboard short cut to the keys. Glows nicely in the dark too.
Works with Vista, so I'm pretty sure it will work with Window 7. You might find some of the other logitech game pads work as well and would be a cheaper option.

I have a G510 Keyboard, but don't actually use any of the programmable buttons, and to be honest, I'm not even sure how someone would get it to do the things described.

But... I do have a Logitech mouse, which has three buttons on the top. which I've set to my key-mapped Drone commands:

Ctrl+Shft+A - All drones 'attack'
Ctrl+Shft+S - All drones return and 'safely' orbit
Ctrl+Shft+D - All drones 'dock' in bay

But, drones being as outrageously free-willed as they are, I still feel compelled to press each button about three times - just to be on the safe side...

I can't see CCP having any problem with that at all, because I'm still issuing the commands manually, and need to actually be at the keyboard and actively playing, but this thing you're doing... somehow programming actual station to station journeys... In my book, that's 'Botting.' - And I hope you stop.

A quick search of past ccp responses would bring up the following, (in my own words cause im not searching for stuffs i already know)

you can use those fancy mice, and keyboards to bind keys as your doing nothing that cant be done in game anyway. Ie game has shortcuts, your just changing what particular key is the shortcut.

What you can not do- is chain command stuff so your character "does stuff automatically". You cant press a button to have your ship warp to the belt, then target a roid, then mine the roid- for instance.

Tl/dr Keybinding is cool mkay.

Automating your toon is bad.

Be cool, not bad.

Botting is bad mkay!
First time offense - 14 days ban
Second time offense - 30 days ban
Third time offense - permanent ban

+ your character transfer rights are revoked on first time offense.

Botters future is dark and gloomy. Stay on the sunshine Big smile

This is best GM reply I've seen on subject:

(from http://community.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1291641&page=10#274 )

GM Lelouch wrote:

Hello there,

To make a long story short, automation of gameplay is not permitted; players must be manually issuing the commands to control their character(s) at all times.

Our stance on programs such as Synergy and hardware/software combination such as the G15 keyboard is that they can be legitimately used as long as gameplay isn't automated. Synergy allows you to move your mouse cursor to multiple different monitors which are hooked up to different computers and we do not have any qualms with players using the program for this purpose. If Synergy was used in some way to control your accounts for you without a need for you to be at your keyboard, then that would not be allowed, but I am not aware of such a functionality with this program. If Synergy is used in conjunction with some other program to automate gameplay, it would not be permitted. G15 "macros" which allow you to group different commands into one keypress are allowed. For example, setting your G1 key to press F1, F2, F3 and so on for you with one key press is allowed (although this specific command is not as useful as it was before now that we have weapon grouping).

An exceedingly complex G15 macro which would effectively automate gameplay, such as mining, without a need for the player to be present at his keyboard would be against the EULA, regardless of whether the player utilizing said macro is sitting at his keyboard at the time!

Lastly, multiboxing is allowed, and programs designed for multiboxing in mind which allow a player to manually issue the same command to multiple game clients at the same time are allowed. In the same vein as what has been stated above, the player must be manually sending the commands; if a program is automating those commands for you, then it would be considered a breach of our EULA.

I hope this clears up this matter.

Best regards,

Do you mean that pressing button would basically do: right click order, then left click on "View Market Details" on that popup?

In my opinion this is gray area, since your "macro" needs to wait a bit for popup to appear before making 2nd click, and it is not same as just using one button to do several things at once (which GM said would be OK).

So I would not use something like that without first asking CCP if that is OK. You can make petition in "Exploits" category if you want CCP answer on whether this is allowed or not.

I believe this is OK, just make button do Ctrl-A.
