Ive been curious, is there an in game explaination to how we get objects into our hold from a distance?

Are we using some kind of transport system or do we have teams which go out and retreive the objects? I know its just a simple game mechanic but for my WOD campaign I have based on the Eve universe a transporter would be a fairly big deal.

I haven't seen any explanation, nor do I really care enough.

But from what I HAVE seen, it mostly goes by star trek rules with the exception of certain unecessary details such as 'shield frequency', etc.

So you can assume that a ship beams things to its cargo hold. The beam is powerful, but very short range (any farther and accidents occur). Eve is all about verisimillitude, so this explains why the process is so quick.

I always hear the word 'scoop' when referencing the cargo hold, so I'll assume it's that. If we had transporter technology we would see it in a lot more places, and it would also have some sort of effect, like the salvager or tractor beam.

In the Empyrean age book, I think it's mentioned that it;s small tractor beams that the ship uses to pull salvage onboard.

So, I'd guess that it'd be something like that. Miniature tractor beam.

Though I think in other things, some ships used cargo drones to transfer things between ships.

Don't remember ever reading anything about transporter beams though.

There was a live event way back when where the Jovians showed off their newly developed matter transmission technology by having a diplomat of theirs visit all four empires by teleporting between them.

It didn't quite go entirely according to plan.

The chronicle Fiat Accompli describes the use of salvage drones in combination with low-powered cutting lasers to retrieve a specifc cargo from a ship. Notable, this also kills the cryogenically hibernating survivors that were being recovered...

I've always preferred the phrasing scooping. Cargo bay depressurizes, doors open, and low powered tractor beams set around the edge of the bay doors slowly bring in the free floating goods.

Something that has seen me through other forms of fanfic is to remember that game mechanics don't necessarily equal lore. Holes such as this open avenues for interpretation, as we can see from the variety of 'reasons' posted here. :)
