Level 4 Hi-sec Ships - (Almost) Anything Goes

I've been away from EVE for a couple years and just getting back into it. I figured I'd start out for a while just running some hi-sec level 4 (combat) missions so I can get re-familiarized with EVE.

I can fly just about anything with almost all level V skills, so no real limitations there. I have bonus SPs left over to speed up whatever I should still boost up to V. I'll set a budget of perhaps 3b total for the ship and fittings. I'd be operating in hi-sec Minmatar space.

So, what is the "ship du jour" these days for level 4 mission running?

Machariel would be a good bet. There's not a whole lot it isn't good at.

The nightmare is also great in Amarr space, as is the Vindi in Gallente space.

Tengu is great as well, though it isn't as much of a dps cannon as the others.

Rapid mission completion, but not afk brain-free flying, is machariel (nightmare elsewhere and some will argue for vindi).

Decent mission completion with uber-tank and able to go afk for a pee while ship is in any mission room, is rattlesnake.

General-purpose flexible, able to do most anything PvE reasonably well, but not necessarily super-quick site clearance, is tengu.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

Buy a mach, get a total faction fit, do lots of missions, and get ganked by tornados :P

Honestly though, mach is probably the best, but you don't even really need an expensive fit on it to be very effective, that being said, it can't get into some plexs, so remember that it is limited to missions, whereas some ships like the Tengu are not really (since it can get an any good plex).

My old setup was a faction/deadspace fit Golem, but a Mach has been on my list for ages.

I've noticed a lot of MWD-setup Machs out there. Are "no-MWD" deadspace areas in missions a thing of the past, or are you just going to have to keep shuffling the fit around for those missions?

Why rattlesnake when the Navy Scorp has 8 mids, and 6 launcher hardpoints???
