Ever wonder why politicians fail? The answer is easy: they promise to deliver on things beyond their control.

I have no such intentions.

I've been around five years now, played many facets of the game, and have come to see only two recurring themes that matter:

COMMUNITY & ACCOUNTABILITY

No matter what the issue, the hot topic, the troll, the future, it will all come down to being open, honest, consistent, engaging in the community.

I've always been about community. If you're reading this thread, chances are you already know that.

Accountability is the act of keeping ourselves transparent, come good or bad. Again, if you know me, or have followed my blog, then you know I believe in accountability.

So do the right thing.
Vote Roc.

You and about 248 other candidates stand for the community. Do you have any views about the game that you stand for on your own? (Sorry, I've never read this blog of your that is so famous you didn't even have to link to it.)

I would like to know why you think you have the qualification and capacity to

  • influence the other CSMs so that your opinion about a topic will be the general CSM consensus ( apart from The Mittani who will certainly be hypnotized by your bouncing pecs )
  • influence CCP sitting on the other side of the table to gradually move in a direction that is consensus of the CSM ( CCP Soundwave is not known to fall for bouncing pecs )

I'll answer your question as well as Tyrion's at the same time.

My real life career of the last 15 years has been one of Technical Director/Information Architect.

Everyone has ideas. Nobody wants to think their ideas are invalid.

My job, and my gift, is the ability to see all the strands along their paths, how they work and don't work together, then form a solution that fits. I've been fortunate enough that I can do this while the other parties are still sharing their ideas.

Bouncing pecs aside, I am strong willed, well spoken, been through the same ups and downs as the rest of us, and have a will of steel.

When something is right, I don't back down. When something isn't right, I work diligently to find a solution. Sometimes with others, sometimes without.

Thank you for asking.

This didn’t answer my question at all. But in really trying here, your platform for the CMS is that you are an awesome person and has a lot of personal qualities. Unlike, nearly, all the other candidates for the CMS you do, however, not have a single vision for the game. Not a single view on what ought to be and what ought to be changed.

I’m actually not trying to be an ass here. I’m trying to make you spell out something, to say something more about what is wrong with the community parts of eve. And how you want to change it. I’m trying to make you say how you want more accountability to manifest itself ingame. Right now you are a worse candidate than even Xenophile, he at least has a smoke thing going even if he has no mirrors. You don’t even have smoke. Give the voters something to evaluate you on so we can all either be amazed at the quality, or laugh at you. I’ll settle for either.

I will give you a like here just because you are not trying to push an agenda that is game wrecking based on an egotistical view that your idea of game play should be my idea of gameplay. I got news for all those unemployed nerds who think the game should be played a certain way... Your unemployed for a reason. If your ideas were perinant to Ccp you would be a game development employee, as you are not quit trying to ruin my game based on your egotistical viewpoint

As for you sir , you will get my vote for your honesty.

Ok, thanks for letting me have another opportunity to address your question.

I have many of my own views and ideas for the game. I talked about many of them when I ran for CSM 6. I realized something along the way, which was actually quoted by Zandramus. My ideas for the game may not be your ideas.

There is already a laundry list of things needed to improve the game that many of us can agree on. There are players that have spent a lot of time working on greatly detailed posts and plans, thinking through their thoughts and presenting them to others, and to CCP.

My intentions are not to be a game developer. I'm running for CSM.

My intentions are to make sure that the items on the "list for consideration" are seen from all angles, are thought through for all potential ramifications, and then developed in a way that is above board.

Never start a fight you can win.

The whole CSM setup is about feedback and making the small changes that have a huge effect.

It is not a power struggle / dictatorship to force through 1 radical idea that will alienate 90% of players.

Good luck Roc, I work in a similar role and it can be quite a challenge stopping a strong willed group of people from tearing each other to shreads.

Maybe a CSM who is focused on the 'delivery' rather that the 'what' is the way forward.

No, you were not blobbed, you just didn't bring enough people to the fight!

Yeah, no one who isn't ******** is arguing that the CMS should be playing devs. However, before we elect someone, it might be nice to know what way they'll advocate the game to be changed. What do the candidates think of the wormhole stabilizer idea might be nice to know for those interested in wormholes. Some of us wonder whether the candidate - based on the available data - think titans should have their tracking nerfed. There are a lot of ideas about lowsec floating about, with supporting arguments for this and that. And in addition the CMS is a place to bring ideas to the table for CCP, so if the candidate have some all the better. Roc here is claiming "I will represent YOU!". Well, the democrat says they'll be representing me by increasing taxes and the republicans says they'll be representing me by lowering tax. Thank you very much, but if Rock here is wondering why he only has 43 likes (one of which is mine) the answer may be that even Pol Pot claimed he was representing the people, people these days tend to want to know in what way and for what goal they’ll be represented. All Roc wants to say is that he used to have ideas and that there is a lot on the table, all of which he’ll consider. But sod trying to actually tell his voters which way he is leaning or *gasp* actually discuss it with them in a candidacy thread.

@Tyrion

Ok, let me give you my stance on things, just to be clear, sir. Philpip said it already.

My stance is this:

"I don't care about the what. I care about the how."

Of course I have ideas. How could be a player of EVE and not have ideas for how to improve the game? We are a creative community.

Of course I have opinions on issues, but I'm not playing that political game.

By representing the "how" of the community, it leaves the community, along with CCP, to determine the what. If the what comes by me and there is no right "how", then I will reject the what. If the what can work in the right way, then I will support the what.

I hope that's clear.

Thank you.

Posting in the hope for a candidacy view on the following: Bounty Hunting

Having played other games that had excellent and well thought out bounty systems (such as the recently deceased Star Wars Galaxies), and having started my life in EVE as a smuggler (another system that needs some love to go along with bounty hunting), I would definitely want to make sure that a system was implemented for this that could not be easily abused, held player interest over time, was a sufficient time sink, and stayed true to the vision and lore of EVE Online.

Those are my opinions.

Having said that, I'm not ready to lobby for any idea to be considered or not. I simply want to make sure that any ideas brought to the CSM/CCP table are given due diligence.

For me it's about the how for any community idea, not the what.

There are many good ideas out there. If the CSM decides to lobby CCP on certain ideas, I want to make sure we have all our ducks in a row.
