Hi guys, i have a few questions about k space gas harvesting, hope some one can give me precise answers. Thanks in advance.
I m planning to harvest gas in wh and k space gas, and i will use only prospect, switching to a combat ship to clear enemy npc is not an option. So here are my questions
1. Do low sec gas sites have guards? If yes, how many of them have npc guards? A few? Half of them? Of most of them?
2.,i know gas cloud in null is explosive, periodically deal damage to harvesting ship, can a prospect tank the damage without any help?
3. I m at UTC+8 tz, so on weekdays, im mostly soloing, if there is no ice to mine, what is the next profitable industrial activity? Is it gas harvesting? (i dont want to do exploration or ratting as a regular pve activity)

It's been a number of years since I did gas harvesting, but unless CCP changed the mechanics during that time, you shouldn't have to worry about NPC rats at normal low-sec gas cloud site.

The value of gas clouds varies a lot, but there are certain constellations that spawn the really valuable gas clouds. For example there's a constellation in Heimatar low-sec that has VERMILLION CYTOSEROCIN, which is one of the more valuable varieties that you can get from low-sec. I think the constellation I was doing it in was Akimamur, but the list linked below says Hed, so you might want to try both.

Here's a list of the regions and constellations according to EVE University:

I'm not sure how accurate the list of constellations is, but it's a start.

As far as other industrial activities, have you tried planetary interaction yet? You can make a lot of money doing that right now, and it will give you some of the raw matierials to build other items like ship modules, fuel blocks, structures, etc.

Thank you for replying. I have already doing PI using an alt. It is nice passive income.

I hope you can provide more information on how many % of the low sec gas sites are without NPC rats based on your years of experience. Also, do you think that tanking the null gas explosion damage is achievable by a prospect. Much appreciated.

When I was mining gas in low-sec, I don't remember seeing any NPC rats at the gas sites I mined. Those sites were all different variations of "Nebula" sites if I recall correctly.

Yes, you should be able to tank a null-sec gas cloud explosion using a Prospect. The guide that I linked in my previous post said the cloud explosions deal 1000 damage. So as long as you have enough shields to cover that you'll be fine.

https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Prospect/Fittings
Look at the fits here - notice that they include a medium shield expender, which should more than cover you against the cloud explosions.
