Hi, I am mostly a Miner , But I do missions on the weekend for fun. I have lost 3-4 Vexor's with different build in my last mission, I got dropped in middle of the rats who were firing missiles.

So I have been looking for Full on long range shielded drone boat Fits ..

What do think about this Fit :

[Vexor, PVE Drone Snipe]
Damage Control II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Co-Processor II

50MN Cold-Gas Enduring Microwarpdrive
Large Shield Extender II
Large Shield Extender II
Limited Adaptive Invulnerability Field I

Drone Link Augmentor I
Drone Link Augmentor I
Automated Targeting Unit I

Medium Core Defense Field Extender I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I

Hobgoblin II x5
Hornet EC-300 x5
Hammerhead II x5

Note : I added the "Automated Targeting Unit I" just for fun, since nothing else would fit in the High power slots.

Automated targeting units are cool. The add to your max number of targets locked and auto lock hostiles. I use one on my marauder since nothing else useful can be fitted, Well nothing I want to fit anyways.

That fit is a passive shield tank, might be ok for sniping if you can kite. But don't get caught out.

What lvl of missions are you running?

Hey bud, I'd like to help, but first you have to tell me (and everyone else) what kinds of sites you're ratting in. I will say two things about your fit though, I wouldn't bother with ecm drones. That just make the site take longer since you're not killing anything. Just use lights to take out tackle asap. The second thing I want to mention is that your fit has a huge signature radius so bigger ships can hit you for a lot of damage. Your mwd, Large Shield Extenders, and rigs all increase your sig radius. I've only used a VNI in anomalies and was pretty successful with a speed tank ship (orbit something in the middle of the site at 30 km, going ~1350 m/s with a whole lot less signature radius than your fit). If that's something you're interested in, let me know.

You shouldn't be losing cruisers in lvl2 missions. You need to trash the passive/buffer tank and go with an active tank, you don't need much of a tank for lvl2s. I would fit 3 rail guns to augment the drones. You only need enough drone link augments to match their engagement range to your ships targeting range. Anything more is a waste.

Level 3 missions will be more difficult for cruisers. I am alpha atm and run lvl3s sometimes. I use a gnosis. Ask around though in game you might find some good cruiser fits for lvl3s. There are help channels in game where you can ask about fittings.

These forums have a fittings section to, this is technically the wrong place. But these forums are on the way out so I choose to ignore that.

New forums are kind of crap, but they are growing on me its like a cancer. Try reposting your thread there so you can increase your visibility.

Hi

This is a very bad fit. I do lvl 2 security missions and most lvl 3 missions (but not all) on one of my toons in a T1 catalyst with meta modules not surpassing meta 4 and all skills at lvl 2-4, no 5s, flying railgun sniper fit.

That said, there are some unbalanced missions which should be reclassified as next level, and likewise some unbalanced missions which should be reclassified/rebalanced as previous level, and the ones where it just drops you in middle of missle towers + webs + scrams + any sort of ECM / dampeners etc., are among the difficult ones.

Since you said you do mining, how are your general support skills ? Especially capacitor, powergrid and CPU ?

I highly recommend ditching the MWD as it gives you around -20% to -25% cap and going AB instead with active tank. Your fit needs to be cap stable for at least 8 minutes or so, the more the better of course, you don't need to be 100% stable as everything will be dead by then or you'll be out of harms way and won't need to run your tank. Personally I like to run at least 1 cap battery as some rats will use cap drains

If you fly Galente or Ammar, go armor tank, if you fly Caldari or Min, go shield tank (though Min ships can be often effective as either or).

I highly recommend you aim for either Ishtar or Gila, both of which are very good mission running ships.

You don't need 3 drone damage amps for lvl 2-3 missions. 2 is more then plenty, your T2 drones should kill everything in 1 or 2 salvos, you don't need 2x drone link augmentator, 1 is plenty, and you migth want to consider one of drone tracking modules (there are 2 available one mid and one low slot), or a web so your drones can hit stuff easier.

if you use some drone tracking then you don't need to use light drones at all. you can run multiple flights of mediums and just use those, + you can have them in different flavors, for example flight of kinetic drones and flight of thermal or EMP drones. If you have any drone space left over, I recommend loading up some salvage drones, you may want to salvage here and there, you don't need a full flight of them either.

Automated targeting unit is OK, if you still have empty slots and powergrid / cpu available, then fit some blasters or rails (ones that use least cap, ammo choice also matters), this is just so you can pop any frigs or drones that get in your face while leaving your drones on your primary targets.

Move around, never stay still. I like to pop closest frig then orbit the wreck with AB on at all times, this makes you harder to hit.

If you get webbed, scrammed, dampened, neuted or whatever, kill the things that are doing it first, all else 2nd.

On the particular mission you mentioned, on warp in, immediately go straight up in straight line with AB and full tank on, while destroying your targets.

Hope this helps you a bit.

Nothing wrong with passive tank but you need hp regen instead of big buffer generally for missioning also you have really low resists and the MWD isnt good choice for new players missioning. On my Vexor the mids looked like
Afterburner
Large extender II
Shield Hardener II
Shield Hardener II

Replace core defense extenders with purger rigs, the cpu lowslot and damagecontrol (maybe) with shield relay or two.
Drone links are not that useful since you dont really want your drones fly too far nowdays, unless you have real low skill, then one is ok. Afterburner is slower, but eats less cap and you can keep it running to take less damage from the enemies.

There is one nasty level 2 mission with mercenary enemies doing heavy blaster damage but you can rangetank it, also remember you can usually warp out from low level missions so align to something when stuff starts to look risky and just warp when shields go under 10-15%.

Perhaps the problem does not come from the ship, but from the strategy you use.

Before each mission, go check EVE-Surival (not sure if I can post links here): it details enemies, important stuff to check, pull order...

I used T2 drones since you listed T2 in your originals, but you can go down to T1 Faction drones. Other then that, fit is all T1 and extremely effective and cheap. The drones alone in it do 300ish DPS give or take pending skills etc. Replaced the blasters with rails to help out drones on bigger targets at range. Your drones will kill frigates just fine. Fit is entirely cap stable and has plenty of tank for up to lvl 3 missions.

Your drones should be mediums, 1 flight of EM or Thermal and 1 flight of Kinetic, 5 salvage drones. Your Tank is Omni type via the Adaptive plate and Reactive hardener. Reactive hardener will adjust itself to damage type received, but it usually takes 1-2 cycles for it to do so. If you need more tank, just replace one of the Capacitor rigs with armor pump rig or take out another one of the drone damage amps and stick an armor plate in there.

So this fit the drones alone do about twice of your total damage, then you stick some rails on it and you're set. Just keep in mind rails are horrible at close range, you want them for taking out stuff like those pesky missle or web sentry turrets etc. that are giving you a hard time. Carry 2 different ammo types with you, 1 short and 1 long range, run anti-matter as default, but switch when you need to.

As far your training goal goes, aim for the Gila 1st, it reaches its mid effectiveness much sooner then any T2 or T3 and its a very nice ship. Ishtar 2nd. On your Gila, initially run Tech 1 Rapid Light Missle Launchers with faction ammo and don't use any missle damage mods, the missles are an afterthought, its a drone ship, concentrate on the drones and tank.

Training wise, go for Gallente cruiser V 1st, then other stuff, that will really help you out a lot. Alternatively, you can go to Myrmidon, trains up pretty quick, but its a clunky ship for missions, a bit too slow. But it will get the job done while providing you with far better tank and easier to get DPS then a vexor.

You can also do a Gnosis while you are training up, its kind of an "all-around" ship, and it will serve you well while you wait for your skills to come up.

^ This is actually more like a nulsec anomaly ratting build, with the MWD replaced by a 100MN AB. Remember to resist specifically to the rats you're fighting.

Thorax for gun oriented fits with magstabs, vexor for fits with drone damage amps.

Vexor sniper (serpentis)

422 dps @ 25km (iridium for tracking), and able to range both weapon systems out to max orbit of a serpentis battleship (52km), and break said battleships tank.

3x 250mm Railgun II (federation navy iridium charge m, spike m, federation navy antimatter charge m)
1x Drone Link Augmentor II

1x 10MN Afterburner II
1x Large Compact PB-Acid Cap Battery
2x Omnidirectional Tracking Link II (range or tracking scripts as required)

1x Medium Armor Repairer II
1x Shadow Serpentis Armor Kinetic Hardener
1x Shadow Serpentis Armor Thermal Hardener
2x Drone Damage Amplifier II

1x Capacitor Control Circuit II
1x Medium Processor Overclocking Unit I
1x Medium Auxilliary Nano Pump I

3x Garde II
5x Hobgoblin II

Substituting t1 parts where required works, just change spike for a long range t1 ammo if t1 guns.
