Distribution Mission Suggestion: Ore, Planetary Commodities, Minerals

Distribution missions are not the most exciting thing in the world, but they're a nice part of gameplay. It helps boost the number of AFK autopilot haulers, giving bored griefgankers something to do and they're a reasonable method of grinding faction. Or as an "I don't want to be in this system anymore, send me somewhere maybe more interesting" roll of the dice. Or whatever.

But, they don't take advantage of modern Eve ships and their item-specific cargo holds.

It would be interesting if a few more mission types were added: large quantities of ore, large quantities of minerals, and large quantities of planetary commodities (and maybe even large quantities of ships).

The rewards wouldn't need to be any different, but a mission to ship 60,000 m3 of banidine would mean that it'd be worth keeping a Miasmos handy when doing L4 missions. You could still do it in a max-expanded industrial in two (or more) trips, but having the right ship handy would make for an easy mission.

Or, hauling 60,000 m3 of Mexallon would make for nice tear collection when your untanked mission ship gets ganked for autopiloting and you lose all of that mission collateral. Maybe something like that would be unreasonable, given the collateral cost of that many minerals... but maybe Mexallon has an idiot brother called Texallon (like Banidine).

This seems like a low-developer-effort way to add a bit of variety.

this would reduce the benefit of distributions a lot.

distributions now can be chained, that is using one ship to de several missions at the same time. Your proposal would prevent from doing this.

I dont think distribution missions need to be nerfed again.

That would make Gallente the only viable race for Alphas that want to do Distribution Missions. Also please post in Ideas and Features next time, thank you.

Well, I think the idea does merit some more consideration.

Maybe have an extra bonus reward added to the mission payout for using Industrial haulers with Dedicated CargoBay for specific items.

Since that cuts out Alpha Clones, CCP could also introduce a new set of CargoBay modules that changes the Tech 1 Industrial ships Dedicated CargoBay into the various other Dedicated CargoBays = Commodities CargoBay, Ammo CargoBay, Mineral CargoBay or Ore-Ice-Gas CargoBay.

That would allow all players a chance to gain the extra bonus pay for using a Dedicated CargoBay.
