Hello everybody! I'm a rookie player looking for some suggestions for a good laser fit Gnosis. I bought a Gnosis a few months back and I never got around to using it. But, when the Guardian's Gala came I was hard-pressed to score a battlecruiser kill in my Coercer. So, I got around to fitting out my Gnosis. The problem is that I have no idea how to fit it with five medium lasers because the ship has insufficient powergrid. Since I really wanted to score some gala skins I resorted to fitting a couple small lasers to fill those empty high slots.

My current fit is like this:

High Slots
Heavy Modulated Energy Beam I x3
Small Anode Pulse Particle Stream I x2
Salvager I x1 or Core Probe Launcher x1 (Depends on what I want to do.)

Mid Slots
10MN Y-S8 Compact Afterburner x1
Limited "Anointed" EM Ward Field x1 (or some other shield hardener)
Large Azeotropic Restrained Shield Extender x1
Eutetic Compact Cap Recharger x1
Relic Analyzer I x1
Data Analyzer I x1

Low Slots
Heat Sink II x1
Type-D Restrained Capacitor Power Relay x1
Type-D Restrained Inertial Stabilizers x1
Small "Accommodation" Vestment Reconstructor I x1
Damage Control II x1
1600mm Crystalline Carbide Restrained Plates x1

Rig Slots
Currently, I have none fitted.

Drone Bay
Valkyrie I x4
Warrior I x3
Acolyte I x2
Hobgoblin I x2

Obviously, if you are a longtime EVE vet you can see this fit is haphazardly done. I bought the Damage Control II and Heat Sink II because I knew they would be essential. The medium lasers and Valkyries I bought so that I could take out those gala ships more quickly. The rest of it is scrounged from the wrecks of NPCs I killed in my Coercer and the wreck of some guy who was a suspect or militiaman.

I would like to hear some suggestions regarding better fits. Ideally, I'd like to know how to fit 5 medium lasers and whether pulse or beam lasers are the way to go. Please do not suggest Omega-only gear or expensive stuff like officer or deadspace modules. PvP and PvE fits are both welcome.

Edit: Well, I readjusted my Gnosis. Here's the current fit.

High Slots
Heavy Modulated Energy Beam I x5
Salvager I x1

Mid Slots
10MN Y-S8 Compact Afterburner x1
Limited "Anointed" EM Ward Field x1
Large Compact Pb-Acid Cap Battery
Eutetic Compact Cap Recharger x1
Relic Analyzer I x1
Data Analyzer I x1

Low Slots
Damage Control II x1
Heat Sink II x2
Drone Damage Amplifier II x2
Small "Accommodation" Vestment Reconstructor I x1

Rig Slots
Medium Ancillary Current Router I x1

Drone Bay
Valkyrie I x4
Warrior I x3
Acolyte I x2
Hobgoblin I x2

you current fit is kinda all over the place, I'm not surprised you can't fit guns with a large shield extender and a 1600mm plate, these two mods are competing for fitting resources and providing a questionable benefit. there are also a bunch of mods that just don't make sense together like agility mods with armor plates? exploration mods and guns? you are also using a small rep with an armor and shield tank.

this should fit and do a ton of damage with max alpha skills, uses the low slots for damage, the mid for tank, cap, and a prop mod, highs for guns, a nice big drone bay with navy drones, and fitting/cap rigs. If you like I think you can take off the shield tank and throw on a 3 slot armor tank (two hardeners and a medium rep) and then use the mid slots for things like tracking computers, but I think I'd rather just shield tank it.

Thanks for the reply! Well, I suppose the router is what I needed this whole time. The Pithum C-Type Medium Shield Booster is way out of what I can afford though. I was only able to buy the Gnosis thanks to a 20m isk gift from a returning player. But, I'll keep it in mind. I'd prefer some armor tank fit suggestions if you have those.

replace with meta, should get you through everything but the hardest lv3s, and might even work then. I haven't thoroughly tested them with alpha skills. It is also probably worth swapping the shield hardeners to better suit your target npc.

also rule #1 is don't fly what you aren't willing to lose, so if you cant replace the gnosis you might want to hold off a bit on flying it.

Normally, I'd agree with that rule. However, I have only flown the Gnosis into lvl 1-2 missions, common high-sec sites, and places where suicide-gankers don't frequent. Another reason is that the Gnosis is a special edition ship. I don't think these ships are being regularly injected into the economy. But thanks for the advice!

I'm a bit surprised nobody else has responded, though. It would be nice if other viable laser fits for Alpha players were posted here.

Thanks to Chainsaw Plankton my fit is much better than before. However, I'm going to need more isk to buy some better modules before I can make it even better. In the meantime, does anybody have suggestions of their own? I'd love some suggestions for armor tank fits that use lasers.

Okay so... here is an armor fit I cooked up.

Some things to know beforehand:

- I used only base level modules to fit it. Upgrade them when you can and as you see fit.

- I put this ship together with "no skills" applied. So everything should fit comfortably.

[Gnosis, Basic Armor]
Damage Control II
Reactive Armor Hardener
'Refuge' Adaptive Nano Plating I
Medium Armor Repairer I
Heat Sink I
Drone Damage Amplifier I

Sensor Booster I, Scan Resolution Script
Omnidirectional Tracking Link I
50MN Microwarpdrive I
Medium Capacitor Booster I, Cap Booster 800
Stasis Webifier I
Stasis Webifier I

Focused Medium Pulse Laser I, Multifrequency M
Focused Medium Pulse Laser I, Multifrequency M
Focused Medium Pulse Laser I, Multifrequency M
Focused Medium Pulse Laser I, Multifrequency M
Focused Medium Pulse Laser I, Multifrequency M
Small Tractor Beam I

(empty rigs)

Hobgoblin I x5
Hammerhead I x5

Notes:

- I generally prefer the "smaller bore" turrets as they have a higher rate of fire and apply damage to targets better (see also: tracking mechanics).

- I also prefer using Capacitor Boosters over Cap Batteries as boosters will give you instant cap when you REALLY need it. As a bonus, learning to micromanage your capacitor will help you in other areas of the game (see: PvP) where cap stability is pretty much non-existent.

- Active Armor tanking is "slower" than active shield tanking. Keep this in mind and try not to bite off more than you can chew.

- Armor fits generally produce less in the way of damage, but they make up for it with utility (see: sensor enhancements, damage application enhancements)

- You can fit the rig slots to taste. I personally recommend anything that increases your ship's damage (see: Collision Accelerators and Burst Aerators).

- Gallente drones are generally preferred in PVE as they deal the most "raw" damage of any drone and deal Thermal damage (which is the primary or secondary weakness of all NPCs except Angels).

- The Tractor beam is there for grabbing phat lewtz.

Try to keep the targets at 30(ish) km by pulsing the micro warp drive. Carry both scripts for the tracking comps.

Replace the heatsink with an adaptive plating if you want more tank. Once you get good at capacitor management replace one or both of the rechargers with something more useful, the ship should be fine with just the battery.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! This means a lot to me. There are so many modules to choose from and search through it's difficult for a rookie like me to determine what works and what doesn't. I sure hope other Alpha Amarr players will look at this thread for ideas. I'll get around to testing the fits you guys suggested when I have the isk for all those modules.

Beam fit Omen removes frigs and cruisers off the field fairly quickly and is a fairly cheap ship as well. You also wont be losing a special edition ship should you explode. It doesn't have as many mid slots but it moves quick enough to kite most NPC frigs. If you want to go fancy you can switch to Navy Issue Omen (65 mil on market) which can easily poke frigates and other ships from 55 KM with standard crystals and 28 KM with Multifrequency.
