NPCs Alpha'ing Drones?

Over the past week or so I've experienced several instances where NPCs seems to just alpha a drone. One second a drone is perfectly fine and 100% healthy and the next it flashes completely red and disappears. This typically happens with standard light drones but I've seen it with an occasional medium drone as well. I'm wondering if this is something new or if the drone status bar isn't updating properly (and that the drone may in fact be taking damage and not visually reflecting this). Anyone else run into this?

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

The Drifter Boss in WH space can Shift-Delete heavies.

Have not seen it very often with other NPCs thought maybe just had a light with bad transversal of a few BS (not already aggored). I did have a Worm Light drone hit hull in almost instantly yesterday, would have killed a normal light.

I should have mentioned that this is in standard L4 (not Burner) missions.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

No, I have never saw something like that. I saw drones getting webbed and hammered hard, but no instant death. What is interesting is that light / medium drones in mission pockets are getting agroed by NPC very often and drones in belts / anomalies are rearely targeted ever... even heavy drones.

As I indicated, it might be attributable to a delay in updating the drone damage status. I'll keep an eye on it to see if it changes...
