Flying a Ferox, upgrade path for missions and FW?

I'm currently doing L3 security missions in a Ferox. I'm using railguns, which I believe are not the best for PVE but let's ,just assume that's what I want to do Cool I also want to start with L4 missions. My DPS is too low so basically I'm looking for an upgrade path. Moa -> Ferox was an obvious choice, but now...

I can't decide between the naga and the rokh. What's "best" (not worst) for L4 missions? I've read about these ships and while both have good/bad, nobody every said that any of these ships are great Sad

But more importantly: am I on the wrong path? Should I abandon the Caldari railgun approach and go for missiles instead? I do like the railguns... Should I cross train into another race for a better railgun ship?

I will probably be trying out FW soon, but I guess I'll be flying a Moa there or something smaller.

for PvE you should go for missiles if you choose to train for caldari hulls.

Propablly doable in both but not optimal and I think it will be dangerous in naga.

Since I'm a very new character (not even Caldari BS I trained at this moment), would it be better to just start training Gallente hulls and use their BS? They seem to have a few interesting ones like the Megathron.

Caldari PvE is missile based, but if you want to stick with hybrid you can cross-train Gallente.
However you'll need to train also armor tanking skills (as gallente are mostly armor while Caldari are Shield-tanked) and Drones

Probably smaller. Usually in FW your ship will be optimal for 2 sizes of plexing if you're doing offensive plexing(defensive plexing can be done in a frigate for all plex sizes). A frigate can do novice/smalls, a destroyer can do small/mediums and a cruiser can do medium/larges. Larges tend to be a lot more risk/time solo for not much more gain. So frigates and destroyers are sort of the go to ships in FW.

If you stick with hybrids the progression is usually the Megathron, Vindicator and then Kronos - at least for L4 missions. I wouldn't recommend any of these as suitable for FW, however.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

at the small and medium levels hybrids are viable, however at the BS level I'd rather use missiles. Half of that is the base dps of the railguns and the other half is the rokh not getting a damage bonus. Naga is just too squishy to use for missions, plus with no drone bay it can have trouble with frig sized rats. I'm not very fond of large rails even on ships with damage bonuses. Even better, use lasers or projectiles. The nightmare and mach are excellent mission ships. Mach is great all around and nightmare is great in amarr and caldari space, but can have some damage type issues.

For fw there are a bunch of rail/blaster/rocket/light missile ships so you have a lot of options.
