Rifter & Wolf Update

I've flown in both the Rifter and wolf fairly regularly, and I'd like to throw some ideas out there to get them in a better place where they're not overshadowed too heavily by other ships in their weight class.

For the Rifter, while there are some pretty good armor fits out there, it's pretty outclassed by the Tormentor for scram-range pvp. A fairly solid route to go would be to move that utility high to a mid, giving it the ability to sport a strong dual-prop build, or shield tank as needed. Add this with a double damage bonus instead of falloff range, you've got a ship that should have solid pvp performance in any role with strong dps and fitting flexibility.

As for the Wolf, all that needs to happen is for it to move a high slot over to a mid to make it a solid tackler. Its weapons don't use capacitor, so having a utility slot makes very little sense apart from the extra dps from the rocket, which can easily be made up for in spades by having a webifier.

Thoughts?

EDIT:
Here's another idea i had with the rifter that could work in regards to keeping its slot layout:

Instead of sticking with projectiles and failing, why not give it a dual weapons loadout with bonuses to match? 4 turrets and 4 launchers, with an optimal range and velocity bonus for each per level. You'd get a lot of usage from gunship builds, and it would be viable with light missiles or rockets. That would fit with the 'versatility' theme for minmatar, and would make it a quixotic and unpredictable choice for any engagement.

I don't like the chances of getting it looked again just yet. Other then that, I don't fly it so don't have much to say on your suggestion.

In relation to the wolf, CCP are looking at balance options for assault frigates. Hopefully we know more soon.

I'll agree that the Rifter and Slasher are pretty similar, having the same weapon layout. But I like the utility high on the Rifter. Can we take it off of the Slasher instead?

Or maybe go the Punisher/Kestrel route and give the Rifter 4 turrets. Gallente can't cry, they have the Tristan.

Speaking of the Slasher, the tackler frigates are all pretty similar. They all have four high slots and three turret hardpoints. Why don't we add some racial flavor and mix them up a bit? Two of them should drop the utility high for a mid or low slot. I call Amarr and Minmatar--not because it fits their ship profile but because it goes against it. It'll make these ships stand out a bit and give each race more options. The Executioner could really use another low slot, provided it didn't cost it a mid slot. It'll have good buffer tank despite its small sig radius and high speed. The Slasher could take an extra mid slot and use it to fit stronger tackle while armor tanking, or to shield tank and still be able to tackle. The Condor can use its utility high to neut, since it's not spending capacitor on its weapons. And the Atron can use a nosferatu to fuel its guns and tackle.

FT Diomedes: "Reaver, sometimes I wonder what you are thinking when you sit down to post."

Frostys Virpio: "We have to give it to him that he does put more effort than the vast majority in his idea but damn does it sometime come out of nowhere."

well, the balance choices they made for it were sh*t. It doesnt do anything in its intended build right, which i suppose was their original intention with 'versatility' in mind for the theme of many matari ships. Having a ship in a dedicated role it performs well in would be a hell of a lot better.
