No disk in the drive error

About once a week, I keep getting an 'exefile.exe' error saying 'There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive E:.' and its driving me crazy. I can't seem to find anything on it other than an old post from 2010 that doesn't contain any pertinent information.

When this error pops up, hitting Cancel, Try again or Continue does nothing but bring up the same error prompt and I am forced to kill the offending client via Task Manager. The E: drive is my internal card reader and there are no SD cards inserted. I have no idea why my client would want to write any data to what is technically a disabled card reader in the eyes of Win10 when EvE is installed on my secondary D: drive.

Any fix to this issue would be awesome.

I haven't heard about this before, so I poked one of our Top Bug Hunters.

Submit a bug report, preferably with log files attached, so that the appropriate devs can be notified. It would seem that the EVE exefile is causing it, so start the log lite program within the launcher before starting EVE and it should attach to your client and start logging. After it bugs out, you can save the log file and attach it to your bug report.

If the Launcher is causing the error, then you'll need to start loglite before the launcher so it records it as well. The article misspoke, if you look in your EVE folders you will find the loglite exe.

Also if it is outright crashing, you will need to send a crash dump:

Thank you for the reply. I just had the error pop up again and lock up the entire client. I didn't see your post until now so I never had LogLite running. I have it now and hopefully, I can snag some information for you.

Sorry for the late reply. I don't seem to be getting email notifications for the forums any more. Nevertheless, the number is 350098. I did get a reply straight away saying to verify files, so I am waiting to see if that has fixed the issue as its a little random.

Did you resolve this problem? It has happened to me randomly a couple of different times. Usually it happens a couple times in a row and then not for some time. I submitted bug reports but they get closed with "insufficient information", so I am hoping your bug report actually got somewhere?

NEVER happened to me before.
EVE installed on HDD drive D: - I don't even have any drive E:

It happened to me about 2 months ago, then today. I think it might have something to due with my hard drive about to die (bad sectors) New one is in the mail, hopefully that fixes it.

Its happening to me, everytime im watching an npc, i look at mode, if it explodes the game crashes, when i explode the game crashes, and shows the error cannot find disk in drive E, i don't even have a drive E

Any updates on this? Has happened to me continuously over the last week, and at least 3 times today. This is the only program that this happens with.

Happens to me every time my ship gets destroyed on thunderdome.

Edit: I was looking at a ship right when it blew up and it happened aswell.

Another Edit: Turned off ship explosions and it doesn't happen anymore.

This just followed me to TQ as well.
Literally started after I installed and used thunderdome.

What the hell is going on - Can't fly a implanted pod if the game is gonna crash each time my ship blows up.

This happened to me as well. I was trying the new player experience and was watching the drifter ship in the first area. When it exploded, I got this crash. I have had them several times before when I lost a ship. I think it might have something to do with the ship explosion animation.

I can 100% confirm this. I just logged back in, it set me back to before this. Did the same thing: engaged first drifter and set camera on it, when it exploded I got this error.

I was able to reproduce this crash while LogLite was running. Bug report ID is EBR-122334

If you disable ship explosions the game doesn't crash. This can work as a temporary work around until CCP is able to fix the bug.
