Hello,

Can someone here please give me some info on what is required to take down an Astrahus. It is located in a wh, and seems unprotected.

Either ballpark number and type/class of ships, or required DPS would be great.

Thanks

If it's unprotected you just need 10% of whatever the DPS cap is to keep it from repairing. An AFK Oracle or two ought to do the trick.

I'm going to build a big wall that will keep the Gallente out, and they're going to pay for it!

His answer is a bit wrong.

You need to do atleast 5000 damage combined in order to damage the Astrahus.

If you go with absolutely no tank and pure tachyon DPS, you will still probably be shy of this damage as the resists will throw your alpha damage below 5k.

Only if you sync your shots with the second oracle, will you achieve enough damage, and with different skills at different levels, you may be synced for the first shot but be off the next.

Truth be told, if you need to ask how to take down an Astrahus, and you dont have more than 10 people in your fleet, you shouldnt bother. Its just gonna be a tiresome, long, and potentially deadly(for you) venture.

No, it's your answer that's wrong. You do not need to actually hit the damage cap to destroy a citadel.

It's entirely possible to solo one.

Can't be assed to find it but some dude in marmite is solo on one in a svipvul. I suspect he used some other ship at some point but yeah... can be done apparently

This is nonsense btw. The damage cap is a maximum not a minimum. Its not that you must do at least 5000 damage, it is that you can't do over 5000 damage. You have completely the wrong end of the stick.

You only need about 400 dps to keep the citadel from repairing, though for that you need to stagger guns so it doesn't rep in reload. That would take somewhere around 5 hrs. 6 or 700 doe sit comfortably, especially if you use lasers and don't need to reload.

The biggest problem you have in a wh though is being interrupted by passers by. If you have to go safe or cloak up for 5 minutes a couple of times you have no leeway on the repair timer at all and you could end up shooting for 5 hours and acheiving nothing. So bringing the dps cap (6000 dps as it has 20% resists) or as close as possible to get it over with a squickly as possible.

A single Oracle can kill an Astrahus, but it will take a while, I recall seeing that the minimum dps is 10% of the dps cap... this is damage done after resists.

You will know if you are doing enough dps to the citadel by looking at the repair timer that will show up once you start attacking it. If that timer is NOT ticking down then you are fine.

By default it is a 15 minute timer and counts down to zero, at zero it will repair, until it hits zero there is no repairs/shield regen.

You must attack the structure 3 times, the FIRST attack sets the precedent for all the others.

Example of how this all works:

Lets say you start your guns at 12:00 server on the target. You will then see a repair timer startup, if your DPS is above the minimum needed then it will not be ticking down. Provided all goes well you will get thru the shield HP and the station will become invulnerable and display a vulnerability timer. Regardless of how long you sat shooting, that timer will END at 12:00 on whatever day it becomes vulnerable again and a 15 minute repair timer will IMMEDIATLY show on the structure. If you are not there for that timer with the required DPS then the station will repair when the timer is up. As long as that timer has not ticked down to zero then all is fine. Armor and Hull attack phases work the same, differences are only in once you get thru the hull there is a gratifying explosion sequence.

AFAIK, attacking on in a WH is a 3 day affair. Everywhere else it is a week, the hull timer is 6 days instead of 1.
