Improvement suggestions to tourney organization and coverage in EVE Online

Time after time people complain about broadcast operators using bad camera angles resulting in the inability to understand what's happening on grid.

I've already wrote in tweetfleet slack on this topic. My thoughts:

1) Add ingame broadcasts - a capsuleer opens a virtual arena and watches the fight with the studio commentators overlayed over it. Old fight replays may be implemented this way too.

2) Modify grid visuals for cameras. Increase ship and effect scale such that when moving the camera away to 50-70 km one could still see ship models and understand their actions. OR possibly add ship icons (market-like) to brackets for far objects. It will both allow experienced pilots unerstand what's hapening on grid and new players watch pretty ships.
Alternatively, set the wide shot of the arena as the main view and put the close-ups of ships to the small window at the side, where they belong. Not the other way around like it is now.


Also some fight mechanics modification:
Pause the fight in case of player disconnection. Don't know how to implement it, but in worst case 1% tidi should be enough. I'd probably also allow team captains a single 2-3min game pause in a fight (probably penalize it with points so it could not be abused).

It is actual for all future tournaments. Thanks!

A single 2-3min game pause will change a lot. Here is my opinions.
1.Before the match start, you already have at least 1 min to arrange tactics. Which is enough for most teams in AT.
2.If there is a pause in game, all team will make less mistakes. But best team could make no mistakes even without pause. It is important to make correct judgement immediately in AT.
3.As pause will make AT tournament a little longer, make AT harder to organize.
4.You could not pause in eve.
5.Which team use a pause should have a penalize in point or other things.

If you were to pause because of disconnects, what happens when the player simply cannot reconnect? No. If they ewarp or otherwise leave arena, they blow up. End of story. Its very fair.

Having the ship icon overlayed on the ship model instead of a generic lock box for a bracket could be useful. Minimum scaling should be implemented on the icon, but not the model.

As much as I like looking at the great new explosions, zooming in that close makes having any sense of what is going on completely impossible. Camera views should for the most part be zoomed out so viewers can see what is happening.
