The Zirio-Syundai Special™ Overview was created to provide a generalized, user-friendly, 6-Tab Overview, ready to use as-is with room to be tailored as needed.
What started as a stop-gap measure to bring the SaraShawa overview up-to-date for 118.6 instead snowballed into a complete re-write of the .YAML file and total overhaul of the visuals.
If you're familiar with SaraShawa, it shouldn't take too long to adjust to the changes.

New features include:
  • Choice of Full-Size or Compact 6-Tab Layouts that can be swapped at any time without reloading the entire pack.
  • Choice of Single- or Double-Line Ship Brackets
  • Modular Setup: Load the Preset Packs you need, not the ones you don't. Load additional Packs later as needed without resetting the whole thing.
  • New presets, including dedicated Faction Warfare and Incursion presets.
  • Color-coded presets by category for improved ease of selection.

We have a Google Form if you can't get ahold of us in the chat channel. You can also send an EVE mail to Zirio directly, on Twitter, Reddit, TweetFleet, or leave a comment here.

Q:I'm new to overview stuff and this looks confusing.
A: Thanks for giving us a try! Especially for new players, messing with the overview can be a challenge. All you have to do for this pack is join our chat channel or mailing list and follow the instructions. If you're just starting out or don't have a lot of specialized needs, all you need to load is the Z-S Core pack followed by the Z-S Standard 2-SBL layout.

Q:Is there a mining tab?
A: No, but there is a mining preset you can load to the Misc tab, which is meant as an all-purpose utility tab, whether it be for looting, mining, or anything else you might need.

Q:Why isn't there a dedicated D-Scan tab?
A: There hasn't been a need for one since they added a Filter function to the D-Scan window (towards the top right of the window) allowing the D-Scan to work off presets independently from the active overview preset. Old habits might be hard to shake, but it really does allow for more flexibility.

Q:I fear my screen res is too small. Is there a way I can get to see the rest of the presets?
A: No, sadly there's no scrolling function or anything when the drop-down menu is too tall for the screen. The minimum recommended resolutions for the full list is 1600x900, but with smaller resolutions you do have two options:
  • Don't load the Extended PvP presets if you don't strictly need them.
  • If you need some but not all of them, delete the ones you don't or won't need to use.

Q:When I try to edit and change a preset in-game, I just get a a part of a color code in the preset name field. Do I need to edit out-of-game to keep the naming conventions and colors?
A: Yes, unfortunately you can't save in-game with the custom text formatting because the game client doesn't allow html color tags in the input field. If it did, Zirio wouldn't have to edit the .yaml file directly to get the results we wanted. While we continuously update to try to make sure our included presets fulfill as many of your needs as possible, here's how you can modify presets yourself:

  1. Export the unmodified overview pack, unchecking everything (including General Overview Settings and Overview Profile) and then checking off only the presets you wish to change. Save the file with a name like "Z-S presets original."
  2. Modify the presets you'd like to change in-game, erasing the color code and saving as "(preset name) mod".
  3. Export only the the changed presets, saving the file with a name like "Z-S presets modified."
  4. Open both files in Notepad++ on Windows, or Xcode on Mac.
  5. Copy and paste the preset names and formatting tags from the Original file to the modified presets in the Modified file, adding a suffix like * or Mod (i.e. --Ships Only* or --Ships Only Mod), or change the name to something more custom if needed. This prevents the modified and default presets from conflicting with each other. Save the Modified file.
  6. Import the presets from the Modified file. Make sure to uncheck General Overview Settings and Overview Profile, or everything but the saved presets will be reset to the client default.
  7. You should now be able to use your custom presets alongside the originals, or you could delete the the original presets you don't need.

Sarah Sharwa's or nothing.

If this was posted in the correct forum, then I'd offer 'good one. Great for offering something useful to people'. But if you can't even get the forum right, doesn't give much hope for the overview pack and I'd rather stick with Sarah Sharwa's.

The "Correct forum"? Last I checked, "General Discussion" was an apporpriate place to discuss overview setups as evidenced by several threads dating back several years. It's also a good place for general visibility of all player types. If another forum is more appropriate, I'll gladly post there instead, but it would have been more helpful to point it out in the first place.

I'd ask that you give the pack a try before passing judgement. It's functionally an updated SaraShawa pack with much needed updates based on feedback by low- and null-sec pilots far more competent in combat than I, and SaraShawa hasn't been updated since April. It's not even that hard to try it and switch back if you don't like it. The 650 members of our mailing list have already made the switch.

And then you get fools like me who set up custom mining overviews, one for each ore, squashing the PVP ones into "small" "big" and "not ships" …

… what? It is how some libraries sort their books.

It works great, as SaraShawa used to work, and then some more...
Sarah or nothing? Come one!.
