Why?

CCP you just put in changes that will do what CODE has been unable to do, kill off solo highsec mining. All code was able to do without your assistance was change the standard highsec mining ship from mackinaw to procurer. You, CCP, are going to hit highsec solo miners where no amount of ship tanking can protect them, their wallets.

There are going to be buffs to group play throughout eve but mostly (as usual) the big benefits go to nullsec. Group play should be rewarded but crafting mining changes such that solo mining income, which was already dismal, becomes down right miserable isnt game balance its punishment.

The rorqual isnt a fleet support mining vessel anymore it IS THE FLEET and it is going to be mega dumping minerals on the market everywhere.

The last time you made mining changes, highsec solo mining lost about 20% of their income, im guessing from that-that this change is going to cut it by an additional 50%.

Yawn,  I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really.

I wonder if battle porpoises will be a thing with those drone bonuses...

Cap, PG, CPU & Slot layout don't help make them good Battle boats. I'm sure someone will do it and get some funny kills and those kills will then be linked for the next ten years to claim they are fine PvP boats though.

I believe that's the goal.

Play in group, play in nullsec ... or else.

code is irrelevant before I go all into that it was (for them), less about doing anything for anyone except for people who enjoy doing things to be a bunch of donkeys, to try to understand them is to try and understand crazed obsessed people, you can't, their minds don't work correctly.

So on to the post, I think it's safe to say nobody is more of a carebear then I, I post quite often enough for mining buffs, however, I agree that barges losing HP is bull but it also changes nothing for me, I will mine when I mine, I will mission when I mission, or whatever gets my fancy at that time, if you mine and Indy you should have the ability to build and have on hand ships you need, also by insuring them this mitigates any losses.

I'm with you, nerfing barges is bunch of who ha, but it's nothing new and there are many strategies to help with any would be ganking but that requires little effort for big gains.

Barges aren't being nerfed, it's the Rorqual, Orca and Porpoise are being buffed so much that the market will be flooded with minerals from all the mining Rorquals in nullsec, thus destroying the hisec miner's income.

I think you drastically underestimate the null's thirst for content. It's a 3 billion cap ship that you have to park at a belt for extended periods of time, and it creates its own defense fleet formup invuln window. If you don't think that's going to create an uptick in day to day null lossmails IDK what to tell you.

Barring that, consider that the value of ISK is closely related to mineral prices in the first place. Even if mineral prices DO tank, so too does the price of everything else.

This isn't like the old drone problem, where people were essentially generting tons of minerals without trying. This is a thing where people have to risk substantial ISK on grid with the ability to essentially create a popup fleet fight if attacked.

People not willing or able to defend the rorq on grid will either get it blown up or simply refuse to fly it in the first place. People willing to do so will be generating increased ship loss across the board.

Don't command ships use for Forman links or am I wrong, sure you won't get the Rorqual benefits as it is role focused but if as you say it's too much risk for some then there's a more affordable option no?

Ship is 3B.

What's the value of an entire (nullsec) asteroid belt, all the ore in it?

Figure they can mine the belt before they get tackled, hotdropped, and killed?

I think the most common Rorqual ship name will be "Nope", rather than "Nefarious."

Got it, for me prices for minerals don't matter, if its cheap I buy it, if its expensive I build it, to depend on one source of income you limit yourself too much, buy low sell high etc, sometimes I sit in station going over the market and contracts, I buy when I see something someone is throwing out, I climb into my Sanford and Son ship and go collect.

There are plenty of ways to earn ISK but I think most are in a race to the top....the top of what I don't know, I have more ships then I can use right now (and no, I won't give it out), I have spent hundreds of millions in ISK buying every type of bpc and bpo that I can, tons of skill books, etc, if I can't build it I didn't want too.

Modules, while pimp modules are cool they attract the flies in eve, for me I laugh when people scan my mission boat hoping for a payday only to discover I got some of the most cheapest mods in the game, they talk smack like "your fit suks" and blah, blah, don't care, it gets the job done, T-1 mods are fine, T-2 mods are cool, above that maybe a cheap dead space mod, but no more.

Anyway, I think people forget that working towards a goal, I have in my hanger containers named project 1, 2, etc, over time I fill the box with the goods to build said project, when it's ready I bake then enjoy or sell it.

At ME 7 with perfect component prints, a Rorqual builds at about 1.85B in minerals, platinum insurance costs about 650M, and pays about 2.2B.

Most have a Zkill total of about 2.3 to 2.5 billion, when they're not being used as ghetto jump freighters.

It's not a 3B ship, and it's no where near a 3B replacement.

There were a number of them out there for quite a bit less before that blog dropped, incidentally. 2.2 puts the hull replacement cost right at the platinum insurance price - an amount which, at today's prices, the rorqual could mine through all by itself in just a couple of hours, nevermind boosts to the fleet and the other utility provided.

They're not an overly expensive ship to fit (excavators are a bit of an x-factor still), and with the FAX-like local tank and DPS described, it will take a pretty serious BLOPs drop to threaten one mining under a cyno jammer.
