Isn't it time we removed corp management (corp size) skills from EVE?

EVE players know that social structures, including corps and alliances, are the glue that binds the community together.

So why in hell is the ability to group up with other players locked behind an arbitrary training hurdle?

The current corp/alliance size skills serve no purpose and are loaded with issues that could be avoided if we simply removed them from the game.

  • The corp skills are awkward, requiring an "Update with CEO skills" button to even work
  • The skill requirement is easily bypassed with high SP alts moving in/out of CEO position
  • The reward to training ratio is bizarre -- 3 days for 100 players, but just a few hours for 300 players?
  • The skills literally gate players out of forming the social structures EVE is built on
  • The skills are boring and unrewarding to train, forcing a tradeoff against more interesting skill trains


Corp management skills actually have a lot in common with Jump Clone requirements. They're counterintuitive and boring. They can be easily cheated. The requirements lock players out of playing the game how they'd like. And, if you recall, Jump Clone requirements were abolished, in part due to how annoying they were.

Now let's add Corp Management skills to the list.
