When a pilot drops a mobile depot, I'd like a functionality that would allow the pilot to automatically refit to an existing fit that we have saved within our existing fitting library with the press of a button.

This, as opposed to trying to manually hotswap modules. The system is fine if we are only hotswapping a couple modules. But when we have to hotswap practically all of the modules across the lows, mids, and highslots, then it's more difficult especially when trying to remember what the fit is supposed to be in addition to maintaining our combat awareness be that solo or fleet pvp.

Thanks

Could you give me a scenario where total swap out of all modules is needed?

As a pvp type - refitting should be difficult. I'm looking at the case where a pimp fit ship drops a depot and one pushes the meta1 garbage fit button and instantly puts all their good loot into a mobile depot just before he pops. That would be a huge nerf to small gang pvp and piracy.

One example is with my scanning T3. I normally fly with scanning upgrades, relic analyzer and data analyzer in the mids. Most sites I can scan them down quickly, run them quickly, and move on. If I go into a Sleeper Cache or Ghost site, however, I drop the scanning upgrades, add some shield tank, and adjust my low slots. If I have to scan someone down, I have to swap the fit from whatever it is in to add a point/scram/whatever.

I agree that your example exploit is a good one. That assumes that he lives long enough to deploy his mobile depot. Even so, I see the point. It does not have to be an instant refit. It could be slow refit, so long as it was better than manually dragging every module and searching through a cargo hold to get the replacement.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

It's true that simply to refit 8 guns from long to short (hello towrr bash) can take quite a while on fly with lag and server ticks occuring on every single stupid mod I would love to simply fit a thing from a saved fitting regardless of which particular fitting service I am using.
It's a quality of life improvement.
Yes it hurts others when your gameplay gets better, make it only work without pvp log out timer?
Refitting still makes a swiss army knife out of everything that can do PvE without timer nothing changes except it's less hardcore.

Come get some cancer @ my blog !

If the time required for this auto re-fit is approximately the same as an equivalent manual re-fit then I see no issues here.

-1 if you want an instant re-fit button why?
A PvP fight should be a run what you brung and hope for the best situation not a re-fit in the blink of an eye to counter what your opponent is doing kind of thing. Basic thoughts here are
Short range guns to long because kiting.
Big guns to small because tracking.
