i am going for exploration path but little of Ewar focused as well, i wanted to know which modules are good for defense purpose! there are so many i like ECM but people say is not effective if not build with a proper ship and since i am focusing more in exploring i want to train in something that requires not so much of a distraction from exploration.

i like sensor dampening
target painting
cap draining
ECM

but i wan to be effective in what i do.

any information will be appreciated thanks

a Neut fit Stratios sounds like the kind of ship you'd be interested in then.

Being at the mercy of the RNG gods, ECM kind of relies on using a hull that's bonused for ECM modules (Griffin, Kitsune, Falcon, Rook, Blackbird, Scorpion, Widow) in order to be effective.

Sensor damps can be used on an unbonused hull, just be aware that if someone is up close to you, you're unlikely to be able to damp out their points and make good your escape.

I wrote a little something on this topic a while back.

Good advice. Allthough stratios is expensive. you forgot one thing though:

ECM drones, best defense for an explorer (if you don't use covert ops as they have no drone bay)

Syndicate - K5-JRD

Having done a fair bit of exploring, my advice would be forget ewar and concentrate on not getting caught. If you really want to be able to mix it up while exploring i guess it would have to be a stratios or astero. Astero can be fit to be quite combat capable but you do gimp your exploring. If you want to trap rocket fit bombers, use an imicus. Cheap if you lose it, can carry a few drones. Certainly enough to wreck a bomber. Cant fit a cov ops cloak though.
