finally, we're getting some love!

with all the new changes to eve (i havent played for a while), the whole eve landscape has changed.
faction super caps?
several thousand dps marauders?
massive dps talos?

damn cool!

with the rorqual, it cant even come close to the output of those ships (not supposed too). it might not even tank as well as a decked out vargur or colem.
so, since we are changing things, why not let these mining vessels into high sec? we have freighters and jf in highsec carrying ore for the miners, so big ships are already there. it cant be used to seige stations like dreads and carriers so that train of thought need to be thrown out. no one is going to risk that kind of ship doing stupid things anyway.

there is NO DOWN SIDE for rorquals in high sec. its a mining ship with a little offense for protection. however, it could still be ganked just the same. or just war dec em and hit it at will.

well it makes orcas pointless and will make HS ganking impossible

but i think you knew both of those

jf make freighters useless. so that point is moot.

however, the defensive mode thats coming out costs money and only lasts a certain amount of time.
render it useless in high sec.

not a lot of people are going to train up the skills and pay for a rorqual when they can jump in an orca. only older, more established players will fly them and with their defensive weapon cancelled out, they will be sitting ducks.

rorq mines a hell of a lot that alone is to powerful

a jf holds less than an freighter so it does not obsolete it

the shield costs less than a barge i would assume and can be activated the second a ganker goes criminal making their attempt useless. and there will be plenty of time to get the miner to stop being afk so he can overload his hardeners or you can bring in an osprey should more be waiting till after your timer

Why are Rorquals a bad idea in highsec?

First, there is the Capital Emergency Hull Energizer. This module would make you 100% immune to ganking in highsec, as it gives you 99.9% hull resists for longer than it takes Concord to spawn in a 0.5 system.

Even if CCP made it so you can't use the energizer in highsec, there's still the fact that you can fit a Rorqual with upwards of 6 million EHP of shields, requiring gankers to bring enough ships to crank out over 315,000 DPS to gank one before Concord arrives. It's not really feasible to amass that amount of firepower in highsec, and no one in highsec is going to fork over the 300+ ABCs/BSs needed to gank a 2 bil isk Rorqual.

I realize I focus on ganking them here, but I''m aware of the reality that is highsec. As long as you keep your Rorqual pilot in an NPC corp, gankers are literally the only threat a Rorqual would have in highsec, much like gankers are the only threat NPC corp freighter pilots face in highsec.

Yup, as was said way too OP to the point of being invincible.

You won't see (the other) capitals back into highsec until there is a complete rework of the highsec aggression mechanics so they can feasibly be attacked and exploded. CCP has indicated this is something they want to do long-term but it ain't happening any time soon.

But you can at least enjoy your new Rorqual in its native, non-highsec, environment until then.

Speaking as someone who has literally Rode a Rorqual into battle against Titans I would love to see this 6 million EHP (shields) fit.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

Roquals should not be allowed in high sec... PERIOD.

Just like how everyone flies a carrier now, unlike in the beginning, everyone will be flying Roqs. Orcas will become obsolete.

Several thousand DPS Marauders, Massive damage Talos's?
I think you need to provide references for these claims using actually sensible fits.
