MTU - QOL

Yesterday/this morning/sometime in the last 24 hours, I jumped into a mining belt and what did I see. A lovely and lonely MTU abandon in a mining belt. The owner no online, and the standing policy is that MTU left in belts/ratting sites unattended is a legal target for killing (I live in prove, and as most people know, we are a not red don't shoot region)...

So, as I am killing this MTU, I started talking in TS about some QoL changes that might prevent this from happening.

MTUs would be nice, if the only operated while the owner was in system (was discussion to being only grid) and then would wind down on their tractoring over a period of time - 30-45 minutes.

MTUs where built to have a 48 hour life span, so they would give the owner time to return to the can if something happened.
But the ability for the MTU to continue to operate and tractor whatever wreck is on the field during the 48 hrs could be considered. . . supremely annoying.

The operation/tractor time should be enough to allow the MTU to pull in the wrecks of any combat site, but not so much that it becomes annoying if the MTU is left in public space (belts/mining anom/unfinished combat sites)

Now I understand the perk of killing MTUs, it helps keep the market healthy with people needing to buy new ones.

So this thread/topic is just a thought, an idea.

About the "only active when in system", I don't really like it, cause what if the owner is missioning in one system but his/her Noctis or whatever is in the neighbour system?

not sure what a noctis has to do with an MTU... and with the wind down time, 45-60 minutes is more than enough to collect any wrecks on grid and within reach of the MTU

It should have a reinforcement timer in which it is not invulnerable but has increased resists and will self-rep. So if someone set a MTU out and it's tractoring your stuff and you want it to stop, just shoot it till it goes reinforced to make it stop. If you want to get rid of it, bring a few friends and finish it off.

I don't like the idea of making it stop working while you're off-grid.

FT Diomedes: "Reaver, sometimes I wonder what you are thinking when you sit down to post."

Frostys Virpio: "We have to give it to him that he does put more effort than the vast majority in his idea but damn does it sometime come out of nowhere."
