So why You changed those awesome "expanding sphere" style explosions (from 2015 fanfest) into those new showed in this year fanfest?

Personally i like more the first one, they ware epic and bring really good art style into eve

And when we can expect them to be released? (nothing against deploying both of them but pls choose first one Cool )

For all of You i mean those:

Our new systems for explosions allow us to destroy a ship in multiple stages, including a final, large explosion, but they don't really dictate the art style for any stage.

We're just experimenting now, but we're keen on making sure that each explosion is visually dramatic and size-appropriate, and you'll probably wind up seeing elements of the look inspired by the parts you liked of last year's presentation when we're all done. In any case, we'll do all we can to make sure ship explosions feel exciting.

It's too early to announce exactly when you'll see updated ship explosions in-game, but the explosions coming out for Citadel structures will be the first that implement our new approach.

Thank You! But can You say we will get them at least in this year? P

Does the explosion push (bump) nearby ships out?

With that staging system in mind and wreck revamp incoming I sure hope that there will be a larger variation of destruction as well. Not every ship has to blow up completely into a pile of scrap...

I do not know much about this game yet, but I believe that we are in the vacuum of space.

Why there are smoke effects?

Because it's a game and not a simulation.

Artistic license. Also, those explosions look great! They're really bringing the visuals in this game up to speed.

This would be cool. Is there perhaps a physics model or module effect already available that can be used to do this? I seem to recall that one of the citadel weapons was going to be some sort of repulsor effect.

New ship explosions are not part of the Citadel release on Wednesday, no.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with. Your department's presentation is pretty much my favorite part of FanFest each year.

As pointed out above, artistic license.
However I would also point out that ships are full of Oxygen, and if fires are raging on board, smoke.
When the hull ruptures it's not out of the question to presume all of those gases are vented out rather forcefully and hang around briefly until they dissipate into the vacuum of space.

If I may, here's a look at what they are playing around with now... applying the techniques they are developing for Citadel explosions.... so something more like this is not out of the question.

First part looks good. Small explosions that tearing the hull, but finale is meh, blue light etc. I think it would be better to merge small explosions with last fanfest "imploding ball of fire".
