Ratting Post-Citadel

Hi all,

So I've been playing on SiSi trying to figure the best way to rat after the patch. Currently I use two niddys with sentries. I'm trying einherjis (blood space) and not having a lot of luck. Are these going to be the best fighters to use post-patch? Is there a certain technique to it?

Thanks

Clearly putting a citadel in the middle of a sanctum and killing the npc's with it's op guns are the best way Lol

Sorry, I couldn't help myself, but seriously I don't think we know enough to say for sure... It's probably going to take a lot of theory crafting before anyone figures out the "best" way to rat.

Hmmm .... but ... can I? Well not a sanctum ofc, it does not last long enough but into a static dead-space complex?

Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... THWONK! GOT the bastard.

While I have not hammered out a fit yet (and most likely won't till a fitting tool is updated), I believe the best solo ship to rat in is either a nidhogger or thanatos (fighter speed vs hitpoints here). I personally believe it will be the nid seeing as how in all my tests, as long as I killed frigs first, my fighters never took agro, so the speed bonus is better than hitpoints.

However, like I said, I do not have a fit set in stone yet. This very well could boil down to how best to fit each ship.

That being said, the highest tic rates I have seen are from supers and titans, but I would assume you are not talking about those.

Also, keep in mind, that I have not yet faced a dread or titan spawn yet and all the fits I have tried are designed for subcaps.

Nid also has the benefit of getting a bonus to webbing fighters, which are definitely more useful when ratting compared to the thany's damp drones.

after seeing one of the new Capitol rats, it seams fairly clear that CCP is again tringing to FORCE everyone out of ratting except the Big groups that can take down these massive capitols.

WAY TO GO CCP kill another way for the smaller groups to function in EVE

sorry felt I should clairtify. SO let me see if I get this right. CCP being the makers of the biggest sandbox game out there has decided in their infinite STYUPIDITY that every person corp and alliance that already gets hit hard by the incursions and afford to take another hit when these capitol rats spawn in the anomalies?

For developers that keep saying they want to improve the game, they keep finding ways of showing just how far out of touch they really are with it. What is going to be their next big idea to make the game better. full on 15 million ship capitol NPC fleets on every undock?

Just warp out when the capital spawns in your site, its the last ship to do so. Also it takes a bit of time to break shield, but a solo Chimera kills angel dreadnoughts just fine.

The only people punished by this are afk ratters....Everybody I know is **** up excited whenever a capital spawns in a belt or anomaly. It's practically SOP to fit a cyno on everything now, just in case something spawns.

The small group stuff is BS, if you live in a place that can spawn capitals you should be able to muster the 3 to 8 pilots you need to make the process go quicker.

The real problem was CCP allowing afk ratting and mining for so long that people got used to it. Anything a person gets used to will be defended by that person no matter how wrong it is. Hell, CCP didn't go far enough because the capitals only spawn in normal belts, havens and sanctums. They should spawn in any null sec anom as well as any ore anom too.

This game should never say "hey dude, fly this space ship by not flying it and being afk and we'll give you money".

I thought this as well until I did tests, and you are better off just fielding three of the non-ewar light fighters for max dps. The fits I have used have no problem killing the frigs. The main benefit to the Nid is still the speed bonus.

Another interesting item I found last night on the test server.

We three of the non-ewar dps light fighters, you have 27 missle attacks. When I was running havens, guess what? There were about 27 battleships/battlecruisers in the whole thing. Have all three fighters focus on one BS, kill the shields, and have 1 fire a missile attack. BS goes pop and you move on. Very fast and efficient.

It would definitely seem so...

Couldn't agree more.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.
