Got my mackinaw blown up by Circadian Seekers in High Sec

Today was a crazy day. I thought i was safe in high sec more or less, of course there are gankers everywhere but i felt alright overall. Went to a 0.8 system which had 4 people in local, i was mining and i came across about 5 or 6 red targets in the vicinity, i set my two drones against them and before i knew it they were dealing 200 damage per second to my mackinaw, i tried to warp out but only managed to warp away in my pod, lost my $200 million ship. Sucks that the game does this to you in high sec, this should only be in null or low sec, but anyways this is what happened to me today. They were circadian seekers that killed me.

You initiated the combat though, so they defended themselves.

I just tend to ignore them and warp to another belt.

Corporation 'The Master Watch'...obviously not...

I mean, come on - you aggressively initiated combat against these otherwise passive otherworldly creatures, and then complain when they kick your arse?

They do not attack you unless you attack them. They are far different from the regular NPC pirates, as they never initiate first.

This was your fault. This is hisec, but just because its hisec, doesnt mean its super safe with very weak NPCs. Incursions are a great example of stronger-than-normal NPC spawns.

You didnt pay attention. You were ill-informed. You made a mistake. And now you are dead.

No one to blame but yourself. Tough break, tough lesson.

If the Seekers were always agressing first, id understand your point. But they never initiate first. You shot first. So yes, this is not like nullsec at all, where battleship-class NPC pirates attack you.

Well, that's your own fault - and it doesn't matter where in New Eden you are, because if you shoot something without provocation you'd damn well better be prepared for them to shoot back.

Or simply ignore happy little red crosses that are not shooting at you.

ROFL.

Sorry. I understand the ship loss, what EVE players aren't going to get is the "it should not happen in HS" line.

If you didn't have that one line, you wouldn't be getting the ridicule. HS is "SAFER" not "SAFE"

First rule of EVE, don't fly what you can't afford to lose. By afford, we mean won't feel any butthurt.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

So hisec should have no consequences and no possibility of being destroyed?

Sorry, but it is your fault.

There are literally dozens of older threads on this forum from people who have experienced what happened to the OP. What I don´t get is how a Miner's gut reaction to seeing a 'red' on the overview can be to engage, when I do exploration in my paper thin T1-frigate I know I have to play it safe all the time and the same should be true for a Miner even if he/she is in a 'tougher' ship.

Most likely, hes in a routine. He sees a red mark on his overview, and he just clicks and sends drones. Its something hes done so many times now, that he just does it out of habit. Over-repetition has created some bad habits for this guy.

The even more interesting question:

Why does a character born in 2013 doesn't know the behavior of Circadian seekers and why the **** is he posting his High Sec whining drivel in the Newbro section of the forum?

Its possible he got a trial account but never got into it because he is a super secret spy and the queen of england asked him for a mission personally, possibly involving russians and/or Putin, and has resubbed now.

I had my doubts, unitl the Queen and the spy story, but she's not the Queen of England, she's the Queen of the of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, to be precise. Blink
I know Trial accs and so on, but he's posting since 2013, so I think that's not the reason.

Sure, but in the super secret spy circle, theyre old school. They still refer to their country as "England". Its an ancient and mystical cult of spies that existed for hundreds of years.

Come on people.

He is just trying to get a ship reimbursement from you guys.

Personally I like it when my (cheapo) ship gets blown up because it means I am a part of the awesomeness called EVE.
