Am I being inefficient with having a station trading alt and a hauler alt? I'm buying from one market and I notice I can sell it much higher at a market 5 jumps away. I'm thinking about hauling things there and I think I should create a hauler alt. Thoughts?

err maybe. for what it's worth, that's how I'm setup.

I have a Jita Trade Alt and a separate Utility Alt that can do all kinds of cool things from Hauling through to lighting a Covert Cyno.

I train Contracting 4 or 5, and use that to get useful idiots to do all my hauling.

I can fly a Deep Space Transport for the rare situation that a trade needs to be completed immediately, but the vast majority of my hauling is done by the useful idiots that take all the risk for a fraction of the reward.

One thing that you will quickly learn about this game that differentiates it from other MMOs is that there is no wrong or right way to play it. Further you use the word efficient as if it had some very specific objective meaning when it only means something if you know what the end goal is.

When you say efficient do you mean isk per hour? isk per account per hour? fun per hour? what is your metric of which you are judging a thing to be efficient or inefficient at?

And before you even answer any of that I will make two points:

First this is a game do what is fun. If having one character jump stuff around while you are on the other character on the other screen playing the market is fun for you then why not do it?

Second is that many people have done things in this game which have exploited certain aspects of the game mechanic to the point that the Devs have had to change things around a bit to compensate for it. Meaning that just because no one else has been able to do something does not mean you can't.

Unlike other MMOs there is no best way to do anything in this game. There is no elietistjerks.com for Eve. When it comes to the market this is even more true. The Eve market behaves much like real world markets. So you can come up with a business model that no one else has very easily in this game and find your own thing and do it your way.

Much of what you do in Eve will be you making a decision based on your playstyle and preferences. You can ask others for advice but it is always only there opinion and even then only within the context of their playstyle. You'll wind up having to try other's suggestions and come up with your own way of doing things.
