I have returned, could use an quick update after a year of "real life"

Who ever thought that it would be me that would post a question in here instead of an answer.


Well, short story time:

About end of November / start of December last year, this thing called "Real life" kicked me right in the balls. Personal things happened which made me leave EVE, something I had been considering a while already as the people who knew me gathered.

Well, luckily personal things pass eventually, but then there was this new job I got, so have to put in time and effort there a bit more. Now that I got sorted, time to dive back into the frenzy with you guys and the spaceships.

But, I feel lost. Could you guys all help me with these simple question. Just to get me back on my feets and assisting others again.

Q:

* What did I miss in terms of expansions (hell this would have been easier in the old days with 2 releases a year)?
* What did I miss in terms of meta-gaming (any big changes on the playing field)?
* What are the biggest shifts in EVE in terms of alliances/coalitions and the FotM ships?

* Did you guys miss me PP?

Expansions:

- Major changes to nullsec, specifically a nerf to capital ship mobility and sov capture mechanics
- Iterations on lots of stuff

Meta:

- CFC renamed Imperium, have gone from first among equals last year to dominant in null
- FotM shifted away from drones and N+1 carriers and is somewhat healthy now, except the Tactical Destroyers are OP.
- Read up on the recent introduction of Command Destroyers, they will shake the meta further

Hics infiniscram now.

Tora went all Howard Hughes and booted all the hub humpers out of marmite,

we all forsaw hilarious failure.

What we actually got were Russians on the undocks ,
Marmites acting suspiciously like they're hunting in what looked suspiciously like doctrins
And holysheet 1 publicly bellowing forlorn curses at tora like a shunned gin-soaked house wife.

Forsaken folded though are back open for business literally this week (they've a sale on war's right now).
Black legion folded .
Persuit of happiness is basically just saeger now.
Belligerent undesirables are back - the monk
Feyd is in pl (weal took over lords and is doing rather well)

Hyperdunking got nerfed
Wardecs seem to be the pet gripe this season

Brain in a box happened, tq has been a little squirrely since but it's worth it.
Gfx getting better,
Bears getting whinier

Pretty much healthy and normal shenanigans all round from what I've seen.

Hey J'Poll. I just came back to eve too. It was nice to see Sabrize, Shawfluffers and a few other still around. So great to see you too!

Someone linked this a page or so down. Apparently Eve now has a shiny page to help returning players quickly review the updates. I spent a few days reading backwards.

I really liked the format. Instead of reading WoT patch notes, each major change is presented with a picture.

--edit, I just realized tha Solecist is Solecist. :P I recognize posters by avatar not name, and the Bright yellow was throwing me off.

*You missed...
- Tech 3 Destroyers were introduced. Outside of rare exceptions, they outclass Assault Frigates. Some, like the Svipul and Hecate are downright broken good.
- Tech 2 Command Destroyers were recently introduced. They are fast, can support 1 Warfare Link, and have the added ability to use an AoE MicroJumpdrive... which teleports everything within a given area 100km in the direction of the Destroyer's choosing. Affects friendlies, hostiles, and deployable items.
- New graphics. Pop over to an asteroid belt with graphics on medium or better. You'll feel like you are actually in space.
- Brain-in-a-box was implemented. This means that grid sizes have been extended to ~8000+ km (yes, you can see everything in that grid on the overview) and Off-Grid links might be getting shut down soon.

I crossed off two of them because I can't answer them.
