Making it hard to be probed... without the use of a chastity belt!

Hi,

I understand that fitting a ship to achieve a ratio of sensor strength to signature radius of over 1.08 to 1 will ensure anyone trying to locate you with probes will need max scanning skills and the Virtue inplant set.

Is there any point going beyond 1.08 though as I can achieve a ratio of over 2 to 1?

Thanks,

Im not sure its possible to get better, unprobable isnt a thing any more (thankfully).

It use to be possible to completely hide from probers with ships like T3's with certain fits that got better than 1.08 ratio. CCP made changes (specifics I don't recall, maybe they capped the benefits past 1.08 or something) to how sensors and sig affected the electronic stealthiness of a ship with respects to probes a good while back. Mainly because it is rather unfair to be able to have that degree of immunity and safety in space like that, which gives the players who would be probing no alternative way to even the odds.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

You should keep in mind that the patch which introduced the hardcap also introduced scanning mods. Thus, it became a lit easier for the probers to reach high scanstrenghts.
The value of 1.08 was prepatch, and all ccp did was say that there is a hardcap now, but not at which value. Naturally, i'd assume it to be different now and that you need more signal strength or a lower sig.

to probe my ogb loki you need to be at 0.5 au, max skills, scanimps and at least 2 t2 scanmods ... i'd say it's still safe enough

Are you sure? I think that scanning mods came no earlier than 2013 while the cap is ancient as, well, probably T3s themselves. That's what I remember, at least.

The same basic formula still applies, so even though it is not possible to hide from probes in anything that is not cloaked you can still use the ideas to make yourself harder to scan.
