"This week in EVE" is a weekly overview of EVE Online related news and events and shows what is going on in EVE Online. The focus of this overview is on official news from CCP: For example, dev blogs and important forum posts by CCP developers, the ever evolving background story and upcoming events. The previous weekly overview can be found here.

The current "This week in EVE" gives an overview of the week from September 19th to October 2nd

Dev blogs and announcements
Multibuy All the Things - Feedback
Multibuy - introduced with Vanguard on Sep 29 - allows you to buy several things at once (if available). The clever part is that Multibuy has been integrated into the Fitting browser and Industry UI, so that you can now easily buy whole fitting sets or materials for blueprints. Now you can buy all the things you need with just a couple of clicks!

Announcing the Amarr Championships - Feedback
The EVE Lore continues to be player driven. After the death of Empress Jamyl I, the Amarr Empire will be holding the Succession Trials to determine the next Emperor, or Empress, of the Amarr Empire. In total, there are six heirs from the royal houses of Amarr that are in contention for the throne. Each of these heirs will seek four team captains (players), from which they will draw their champion through combat trials within their respective. Once the team captains have been drawn, they assemble their team adding 3 more players. The teams for each house will fight against each other on the 7th and 8th of November, live on EVE TV. The winning team for each house will then fight against each other on the 14th and 15th of November. The two final teams will be flown to Iceland to Fanfest 2016 where they will, live on stage, decide the next leader of the Amarr Empire. Check out the blog and discussion thread for more info about this exciting event!

40 new ship SKINs of the amazing Blue Tiger line for Minmatar Hulls are now available in the New Eden Store. Check out some of the SKIN previews in the article! The SKINs are available both individually and as discounted bundles.

Vanguard release has been deployed
The latest release Vanguard has been deployed on September 23rd. Check out the patch notes for all the details. Your feedback is most welcome here, you can report issues here. Vanguard brings not only improvements to sov capture mechanics, but also Multibuy, visual enhancements, battlecruiser rebalances, and a lot of smaller improvements.

CCP Quant's data corner: Super capitals destroyed Pre/Post Phoebe
CCP Quant brings us again interesting data! This time he has stats for the amount of destroyed supercapitals (and as boxplot), especially comparing pre- and post Phoebe (which introduced Jump fatigue mechanics and the ability of capitals to use jumpgates).

World News
House Khanid Inclusion Announced as Imperial Succession Committee Lays Out Rules
The Imperial Succession Committee today announced the inclusion of House Khanid in the Championship Trials. The revelation that King Khanid II is now formally considered a Royal Heir with all the rights that entails has been seized upon as the most dramatic aspect of the released rules of succession. While imperial officials are remaining tight-lipped as to the reasoning, the decision has been ratified by Orders in Privy Council and a Decree to the Faithful from the Theology...

Feature suggestions
Data Site Improvements
CCP RedDawn comes with interesting an proposal to improve Data Sites. Materials required building Cosmos items will be added to all Tier 4 Data sites. Higher tiered (higher value) Cosmos site building materials to all class wormhole Data sites (C1 to C6). The drop amount of the most commonly used building materials found in all data sites will be halved. Your feedback on the proposed changes is most welcome!

[December] Discovering a New Expedition Frigate
CCP Terminus comes with exciting news about a new Expedition Frigate, the Discovery. This ship will be a new T2 Expedition Frigate with a bonus to ice mining. Together with the new frigate sized Ice Mining Lasers, this ship will be perfect for the more adventurous miners out there to explore and mining valuable ice in places they haven’t had a chance to before, such as shattered wormholes and null-sec.

[December] Missile Disruptors and Tweaks to Missile Guidance Mods
For the December release we plan a new module: Missile Disruptor! Missile disruptors will work similar to Tracking disruptors, only that they affect missiles instead turrets. The missile disruptor will decrease missile velocity, flight time, explosion velocity and will increase explosion radius. Together with introduction of those disruptors, the missile guidance modules will receive a slight buff. Please note that all stats are open for discussions! Your constructive feedback is most welcome!

[Focus Group] Tactical Destroyers
EVE Development comes with an interesting new concept: dedicated focus groups to discuss game changes. CCP Fozzie starts with a call to interested people who both have the experience, the drive and reasonable communication skills to discuss changes to Tactical Destroyers (T3D). If you are interested to join that group, please use this thread to sign up. The focus group won't receive any special, secret information. Discussions will take place on Slack. Chat logs of the discussions will be made public.

Module Tiericide – Shield Rechargers and Others
The next module groups being improved by the Tiericide initiative are Shield Rechargers, Shield Power Relays, and Shield Flux Coils. This will also include also balance changes. These changes and consolidations are now set for the December release together with further modules.

Game development
Early feedback is extremely valuable to the developers
CCP Ytterbium explains that feedback from players is extremely valuable and can lead to considerable change. One example is the recent full redesign of Citadel capture mechanics which consumed a good amount of dev time. While it would be much easier/less work sticking to a design and pulling it through, this is not how EVE development is working - proven countless times. Of course mistakes can be made, but we think that this open approach with active communication between development and players is best for EVE.

350k added skillpoints for new characters!
With the Vanguard release, new characters will start with 400k skillpoints instead of 50k. The list of skills can be found in this album of screenshots. The goal here is to get new players over as many early barriers to gameplay as possible. By throwing in a whole bunch of prereqs and adding to the basic support skill amounts we are hoping new players have faster access to a wider range of activities right out of the box. Characters created in the two weeks leading to Vanguard will receive 300k unallocated SP to compensate for the difference.

Lore
Death and becoming a Capsuleer
We see an interesting question about the Lore and background story of EVE. Cloning involves transfer of consciousness from one body (original) to another (clone), with the original body getting killed. CCP Falcon reveals interesting details about cloning and the development of the Capsule. Both the capsule and cloning has been around a long time, only in YC 104 both were successfully tied together (currently we have YC 117). Killing the initial, original body is part of the Capsuleer exam required by the Schools; it is not a physical requirement. The EVElopedia has an interesting article about Cloning.

Dear CCP Phantom, thanks for a great summary as usual. Speaking of summaries, I just noticed this overview thread has fallen behind a bit. Is it worth keeping up?

Shocked
You're telling me that I didn't graduate Capsuleer College in my mother-given body?
And the final exams have total finality?
I should've spent more time drinking... Bear
It does neatly explain away the difficulty of implanting data ports in non-capsuleer bodies. You skip that step and move the mind instead.

I also love the Comet schematic, despite saying Crew: One. It's even the first time I've seen a lore hint of why armour reps land at the end of a cycle. Because it's physically applying a coating that needs to cure. Great job on all the lore work this year folks.

Do not actively tank my patience.
