"This week in EVE" is a weekly overview of EVE Online related news and events and shows what is going on in EVE Online. The focus of this overview is on official news from CCP: For example, dev blogs and important forum posts by CCP developers, the ever evolving background story and upcoming events. The previous weekly overview can be found here. The following summary can be found here.

The current "This week in EVE" gives an overview of the week from June 19th to July 3rd

Dev blogs and announcements
Fleet Warp Changes - Coming in August Release - Feedback
Changes to Fleet Warp are planned for the update on August 25. The plan is to remove the ability of a fleet commander to warp the whole fleet to Probe Results, Bookmarks, and Mission locations. However, you can broadcast destination such as Bookmarks, Mission locations, Fleet members. The goal of that change is to increase individual fleet member participation, and also increase the time it takes for fleets to close ranges. CCP Larrikin provides further insight and answers to questions.

Introducing the New Customer Support Help Center - Feedback
Customer support changed the backend system on June 26 to Zendesk. This change brings a fully-fledged self-help with many helpful articles, and also a better system for Customer Support to provide assistance in a better way. Of course this change affects only the software, the good GM team is still there to help you! Please note that with this change, the ability to create and process support tickets directly in game has been removed.

Changes to Video Monetization Policy
The Monetization of Videos and Streaming Policy has been clarified after inquiries from the player community. The updated policy is in effect since July 1st, 2015. Note that the use of in-game assets for (stream) subscription-only based prize draws and incentives constitute real money trading (RMT). This is against our policies. Check out the discussion link for further insight.

World news and background story
Corporations in the spotlight : Rapid Withdrawal
ISD Jarrett Pelley continues the interesting "Corporations in the Spotlight" series presenting this time Rapid Withdrawal. Rapid Withdrawal specializes in faction warfare “fighting for the glory of the Gallente.” Founded early 2012, Rapid Withdrawl currently has 152 members and is based in The Citadel region.

Corporation Spotlight: Pro Synergy
Another excellent "Corporations in the Spotlight" by ISD Jarret Pelley features the well-known corporation Pro Synergy. Pro Synergy is a high-sec based corporation specialized on salvaging and looting. The business model is salvaging the wrecks left behind by a mission running in consent and then splitting the rewards from salvaging and looting with said mission runner. This business can be especially lucrative for new players, but the fun from the social interaction here is also not to be underestimated!

Wormhole Fight Escalates As Residents Repel Major Invasion
ISD Lunaire Elois reports about a conflict between The Dark Space Initiative (TDSIN) and Lazerhawks and a massive capital fight in the wormhole system J142528 between those entities. Read this interesting report with beautiful screenshots to see who had the upper hand in this conflict and how it all ended!

Tukoss fate confirmed – Capsuleers recognized by DED
After an expedition from Itsukame-Zainou Hyperspatial Inquiries Ltd. [IKAME] discovered the remains of Dr. Tukoss alongside an enormous structure in the uncharted system of J174618, the Directive Enforcement Department (DED) has announced that a total of eleven capsuleers will soon receive an Inner Circle Note of Merit. In particular mentioned are the “outstanding piloting skills of Captain Lucas Raholan, who discovered the remains of the late Dr. Tukoss in J174618.”

Capsuleers Refuse Tukoss Handover – Situation Intensifies
Demands from the Directive Enforcement Department (DED) to hand over the remains of former Zainou Biotech scientist Dr Hilen Tukoss for formal identification and burial have been rejected by the group of capsuleers who first discovered those remains. DED responded with a list of possible sanctions including bounties up to 50 PLEX. The full DED statement can be found...

Alliance logos on TQ
Every logo (181 in total) that has been submitted and approved have been uploaded to TQ and should be displaying now. Approved logos that have been submitted since that upload will be uploaded with the next batch. We don't currently have an ETA for the next batch, because we want to group them together before uploading.

Graphic and art
Scale of ships and hull features
Even small ships are huge! CCP Darwin points out that even on the smallest ships the "cockpit" is several stories high.

Weapons fitted on other ships - visible or not?
When you don't use the "Look At" option to look at other ships, but simply point your camera onto other ships and zoom in, you won't see weapons fitted on the ships. To see the weapons fitted, please use the "Look at" option at this moment. The geometry loading worked always this way, but of course there is always room for improvements!

Game design and development
Hull tanking
Hull tanking - and the weakness of hull/remote hull repair modules - is intentional. Hull tanking is not supposed to be a second kind of armor tanking with just a different name. Instead it is supposed to open up new, interesting ways of game play. Knowing that hull tanking is pure buffer tanking gives the game designers also nice balancing options.

Locking drone sizes to ship classes? No.
Would it be good if you could use only drones that match your ship class (frigate/destroyer - small drones, cruiser/battlecruiers - medium drones, battleships - heavy drones)? No! CCP Rise explains why especially the wide range of drones you can use with your ship leads to interesting game play. Locking (drone) ships to drones that match their size is not wanted.

New Player Experience - Feedback Q&A
CCP Rise has an interesting FAQ about the New Player Experience (NPE) and starting skills. Check out this FAQ and also learn more about character attributes and if they should be removed or not.

Module Tiericide – Shield Rechargers and Others
The Tiericide project continues with the goal to reduce unnecessary complexity and to provide meaningful options within the module set. This time CCP Terminus looks at Shield Rechargers, Shield Power Relays, and Shield Flux Coils. Since this is early in the design, feedback is valuable and can lead to change.

Issues and workaround
Wrong password or new IP
When you enter your password incorrectly, you are directed to the same page is if you entered the password correctly from an unfamiliar IP, but the login attempt will always fail, even if you enter the correct character name. This makes it harder for someone attacking your account to tell if they have the correct password.

Frame Rate Drop and Lag During Hacking Minigame - Bug reports reuqired
Do you encounter frame drops and lag during the hacking minigame? Please write a bug report! Simply use the in-game bug report tool in the F12 help menu.

Lore
Average lifespan of regular humans in New Eden
A regular human with a normal standard of living in any of the empires can expect to live around 120-140 years. It's not uncommon at all for most regular citizens to still be alive and in good health at the prime of their life when they celebrate their 100th birthday.

What are the Drifters up to?
What are the Drifters up to? Are they in wormhole space? Are they invading high security space? Do they build up massive fleets for whatever purpose? We will see!

Testing and the test server
Writing bug reports is important and really helps!
Writing bug reports with the in-game tool (simply push F12 and then report bug) is important. It only takes a few minutes, but really helps!

Sovereignty Playtest Competition on Duality
The Sovereignty playtest competition continues on the test server Duality. For the sov mass test on Duality on June 25 this playtest has been temporarily paused, but continued after the mass test normally. Any outpost that has been successfully deployed before 11:00 UTC on Friday July 3rd will count towards alliance points for the competition. The...

While you folks at CCP are at it, can you work on some sort of "no newbie bashing" policy?

Basically, is there any way that you can reduce the number of discouraging comments made in-game to newbies like me? While "that was a terrible fit" may seem constructive, when comments like this are piled upon a new player by the dozens it can make him or her want to leave EVE. This is truthfully an impractical suggestion- but I am considering leaving EVE if the criticism of my ignorance doesn't stop- because it severely erodes a new player's self confidence and seems to increase the learning curve of the game. Call me sensitive, but there is only so much tolerable criticism.

I hate to say it but you're not going to get a positive response off of this, especially here in the forums. Once you get out of the "newbie" areas, you're also going to face this along with bigotry, racism and lots more. I'm actually surprised other players here in the forums haven't taken you apart by now.

Two words of advice though if you're interested:

1) Stay in Rookie Chat as long as you're allowed. You get 30 days of access and some of the folks there are truly interested in helping beginners. Some folks there will help you with your question, your builds and your plans. Of course the rest will graphically describe what you do at night with your jars of peanut butter.

2) Google exists for a reason. I mean no disrespect but most folks forget 12 years of schooling once they get graduate and how to study. Sites exist on the net that will help with builds, skill planning, etc. A simple google search will usually find what you need.

You may also want to consider looking for a beginners corporation to help you get started. There's a page over on the wiki listing a few such corporations but as someone who tried to prune some of the dead corporations and/or ones that didn't actually cater to new players and got a rather negative response back, I don;t think pointing to it is that good of an idea.

I wish you luck

edit: There's a video that usually gets posted at this time that staff members from CCP put out themselves on the official CCP Games YouTube channel but I can't find it right off....

Well they ARE terrible fits. You should learn what rigs are for a start.

If you die to someone in lowsec you should ask them what you did wrong and how to improve your fit. Most people will be willing to assist.

Zappity's Adventures for a taste of lowsec and nullsec.

Sound a bit like the Flight Academy Videos. Short introductions to various topics.

I'll use the opportunity to link this (Basics/Rookie information link section of the site in my signature). Recently, I finally made it to offer most of my own pages on that site as an english version as well. Most external links are english anyway (and German language site links are hidden in my link collection).
This may be helpful if Google only shows you outdated information (for example Halada's Mining Guide)

You roll the dice when you enter a noob corp, and might wind up in a cheerful and helpful community or a toxic cesspool, and this can and does change over time as folks come and go. You can buffer against the worst by simply using the 'block' feature in chat, but may well be losing out on valuable insight if only you can ignore the barbs. Remember too that haters and bullies need their victims - so don't be that person.

You can also just start frequenting other channels. In the main Channel window, look particularly in the Content and Help tabs. Also, add 'Help My Mission' to your Player channel. Or just poke your head into all the channels that are there and say hi, see what's going on. Sometimes you can find help and cameraderie in the oddest places...

Having read through other responses to your complaint, I'll repeat their excellent advice: use google and youtube to learn - there's a lot of good info out there and you'll soon find it.

All that being said, one thing you must realize is that you are ALWAYS going to run into verbal abuse unless you play strictly solo. Respectfully, you're just going to have to toughen up a little and cope. Eventually you'll find or create a community of likeminded folks and be having a great old time. I wish you courage and the best of luck!

Legs are ok :-) After all, it was all a team effort and we all cycled only 10-20 minutes each before getting replaced by the next team member.
