Hi CCP,

I have always been curious why you give 1 tritanium with starter ships like the velator? It's not like you can buy anything with that amount and usually just ends up getting place in the station randomly. I don't see the purpose but since it's there I'm sure you guys gave it thought. I'm just curious what that thought behind it was?

Thanks so much!

Because the insurance company wants to show how much it appreciates you.

It's a joke, =P

My first thought was an old family traditon of giving a penny when giving someone a knife.

Your ship is the knife, the trit, a penny

It is a conspiracy by Lord Tritanium himself. ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

Fun fact: the Gnosis battlecruiser insures for the 1 Tritanium it takes to build it.

In my country you receive a penny when you give a knife.

The moral being that it's a bad omen to give a knife, so by receiving the penny you are technically selling or exchanging the knife, not giving it.

I was in a chat room with 7 CCP once and no one could give me a straight answer. But it did provide a set up for tons of jokes and comments.

Who would have thought? All this over 1 trit?

I'd rather not think what the penny was for. Big smile

Dude, rookie ships are more akin to safety scissors or toddler spoons
