Question about killing people in lowsec on gates

So i saw a huge bunch of random ship wrecks on one gate from lowsec to hisec (ls side ofc)
On the other gate, i saw a gatecamp in lowsec, here's a question
What do they do with sentry guns? Aren't they attacking ships that do pvp near the gate?

Best practice is to bring a ship that can tank senrty guns for at least long enough to get the kill and warp off. Good camps will have logi and remote sebo's and ewar etc

The massive damage done by CONCORD in hi-sec can lead people to believe that a response by the NPC "authorities" is instantly fatal, but in fact lo-sec gate guns do far less damage. It is quite possible to tank it, or to snipe from outside the gate gun range.

In addition, there are circumstances such as war decs that will allow fighting near the gate (or in fact anywhere) with no response.

Most well tanked cruisers can take the gateguns

A lot of the gates only have 2 sentry guns, some have none. Stations may have all 6. But as it's been said, sentry guns can be tanked, at least for long enough to get the kill. The only invulnerable insta-death thing is CONCORD in high-sec.

set up pings on the gates, have logi, kill whatever on the gate, warp to ping to reset gateguns, rinse and repeat, leave the wrecks so they will uncloak cloakies.

gateguns dont respond instantly so usually enough time to get off and back and the damage is somewhat meh

I think it's about 300dps you have to tank. Warping out of range and back resets the guns for the crime you committed, i.e. you can freely shoot the previous target. Hence if you see somebody idling AFK on a lowsec gate/station, align, aggress, warp, come back and finish off.

As Ralph said, a well tanked Cruiser is fine on a gate. Plus in a group the guns tend to change targets often, meaning less damage over time.

But gate camping tends to be a risky business. You're sat in the same spot for quite some time, in a ship setup for that purpose. All the while painting a large hotdrop me target on your head.

yes and if your planning to do it solo in something like a fast locking loki or tornado then just remeber you need to kill the target on the first volley or even a atron pilot will kill a 100mil tornado and take 0 damage
