I am taking up exploration for the first time. Can anyone suggest some good guides? Thanks so much.

Johnny Pew has an exemplary series on solo exploration on YouTube, I highly recommend you go see his channel.

Join the "Scanning" channel in game and get live feedback and walkthroughs form other explorers. It's much better than any guide.

1. Drop bookmarks everywhere when in w-space
2. In the probe view, holding shift, alt, etc while clicking and dragging can do things
3. Googling w-space system indexes and site names will tell you things
4. A higher "C" number means meaner NPCs, better loot. Same for lower sec status number.
5. Get Anchoring 4 so you can deploy and use POSes if you're making a career of it.

That's... pretty much all there is to exploring nowadays that's not easily worked out from the tutorial + clicking random stuff. Reading through a guide is only useful if you are waiting in a dentist's office and need to kill an hour or two.

Cool guide. I hadn't seen that one before. Is there really more isk and adventure in the intelligence meta-game than actual hacking and such?
