Hello dear industrialists,

I am fascinated by the industry concepts of this game. I've been playing for a couple of months now and I am not much into PVP.

I am very interested in manufacturing and I have been skilling for it the past few days. I love to mine and to get minerals and all that, yet its very difficult for me to make any profit. I feel like selling the minerals would make alot more profit.

Are there any particular items for beginners to produce? ISK isnt much of a problem for me right now to get things going.
It simply feels like manufacturing isnt really worth the time doing. Of course it will later on, but how do beginners start of in this buisness?

I am in Jita right now.

I would love to hear some tips.

thanks for reading

A lot of the time, that's true.

If you compress your minerals before selling them, even more so.

First, you cannot expect to make a profit manufacturing items from a randomly chosen blueprint. Most, I repeat, most T1 items will sell at a loss compared to the cost of the minerals it takes to build them. There are a number of reasons for this, but the key point is except for maybe a couple of small cheap test items to figure out the interface, you shouldn't make anything in Eve without first verifying it can be sold at a profit.

This market research is crucial yet it is a huge pain in the butt. There are third party tools that are very helpful for this, but even the tools tend to be a bit complex and will take some figuring out to use correctly. I am personally fond of Zifrian's eve ISK per hour tool, the download link is in this thread. Once you figure out the myriad options it is actually fairly easy to use, and Zifrian has been religiously updating it for years every time the industry rules change.

One general rule to keep in mind is that the lower the barrier to doing some sort of industry is in Eve, the less profit there will be in it. T1 manufacturing is very simple, and doesn't require much in the way of skills. So everybody and his cousin does it, and the profit margins are very thin or nonexistent. Barriers to entry can be skill training time, initial investment, or access to certain facilities like POSes. Some of the more profitible T1 items are those with very expensive blueprints that take a long time to research. Personally I favor T2 production, the greater required training times are a significant barrier, and it shows in the profits margins you can achieve, far fewer players attempt T2 industry than try T1. T2 is also significantly more complex than T1 and takes more figuring out.

If you are interested in "making stuff" for profit, you should not overlook planetary interaction. Skill training for PI is significantly less than training for T2 industry, and startup costs are modest.

Look into Tech 1 cruiser production - they have recovered from MegaZyd increase on April 28th, though you will need a ME10 BPO at the very least to be competitive.

/facepalm

Still not a good place to start, IMHO. Cost of BPO + Cost to research BPO + Time to research BPO + Cost of Materials + Time and logistics of procuring and moving required materials.

Start small. Get your feet wet. Check the waters before diving in.

XL ammo - hybrid and projectile. Buy BPC first to get you going.

XL ammo is 50% bpo investment cost compared to cruisers, and ammo always sell :)
(if you stick to the correct type)

You mean people don't have 180 mil handy for a ready cruiser BPO? Blink

Oh well, start with researched blueprint copies, I suppose. v0v
