Hi,
I am trying to come up with an efficient one toon PI setup to build both guidance systems and robotics on lava and barren planets with a 3rd factory planet.

Does anyone have some suggestions? On my first attempt I seem to be getting the material balance all incorrect.

My $0.02: don't try to do it all on one character, it will never be "efficient".

You're trying to get 2x P3 outputs requiring a total of 4x P2 inputs. Those 4xP2 inputs in turn require 8x P1 inputs and you only have a maximum of 6x planets at IPC V.

The major issue will be powergrid. Those extractor control units chew up an incredible amount of power, running a straight-to-P2 setup requires 2x ECU, which dramatically cuts down on how many factories you can have running.

The other issue is resource scarcity. The less abundant resource will accumulate a lot slower than the abundant one (d'uh).

I make nanite repair paste and enriched uranium using four characters, three of which have both IPC V and CCU V. I often run into supply bottlenecks.

So, either train up an alt or just lower your expectations a little.

Not sure if you in null - low or high sec but I'm going to assume your in high sec.

On one toon its gonna be tricky.
You need quite a lot of Non-CS Crystals, Lava and Plasma Planets are not the best in high-sec, I reckon maybe 3-4 just to satisfy the need.

Water Cooled CPU's for the Guidance Systems can be made pretty easy on Storm Planets but only If you have CC upgrades to Lv5 so you can run two Extractors (one for each resource)
You will of course need a Storm (better than lava and plasma planets) for the Plasmoids to make the Transmitters.

IMHO... with six planets you might be able to make this work, but only just.

Also, check your schemes if you really need to do most abundant materials. Sometimes, removing Water, Oxygen, or Base Metals from your scheme and buying it from nearest market actually increases the performance of the PI setup. Yes, it adds some hassle and babysitting to your PI. But if you are looking for max "ISK per hour", then it is worth to check.
