(Ghost) Fitting Window; More relevant stats, less gumpf

Hey pilots.

Me and CCP Karkur, have been poking at the fitting window. Adding the ability to test fit with ships and modules you don't own and see effects of modules when active or overheated without undocking. In short a lite version of EFT/PYFA inside client.

Some of the information in the stats panel is just raw data and not very useful in context. For example Inertia Modifier might be more useful as an Align Time attribute, a combination of attributes to give you relevant information. A sort of a 0-60 mph. concept that can be easily understood without knowing anything about the engine under the bonnet or other tech of the car.

We are planning to add Alpha in the offence panel and more information for drone users.

It would be nice to get some feedback on what would be useful for you guys to have in the fitting stats and if we see some recurring patterns in your feedback we might implement your suggestions as a part of the feature set.

This projects is just a Skunkworks endeavor for now but hopefully it's to enter production SOON tm.

I'd add EHP for given common damage profiles: omni, weakest resist overall, weakest resist on primary tank, and certain common damage profiles such as 'laser' or 'hybrid,' though I acknowledge those are variably mixed. :x

Also, projections with links are lovely, but I see how that could be harder to implement. :x

Really looking forward to this feature.
Align time should definitely be in there. Maybe a tooltip for the DPS stat to break down your damage in to types (just like resistances are displayed) also perhaps a Damage/Range curve would be useful for the newbros so they could visualise their optimal and falloff.

Hopefully you'll include the ability to actually switch modules on and off rather than having to online/offline them as you currently do. It's impossible to get an accurate picture of capacitor behavior with a MWD fitted when using the current fitting tool since you can only "turn off" the MWD by offlining it, which modifies the capacitor directly.

For the DPS estimate, let us pick which drones are counted instead of always using the biggest/most damaging ones. If I have a flight of ogres and a flight of warriors, I have to remove the ogres from my drone bay in order to see what the warriors are capable of.

If it's possible to clean up the capacitor simulation in general so that it's a bit more accurate (I haven't used EFT in a long time but there were several fittings where EFT's capacitor estimate was the correct one) then that would be excellent as well.

Having a think about this some things have already been suggested, such as inertia to align time to take out some stats that are not immediately obvious as to what it effect, ot, keep the stats and show it under a tool tip when you hover over it?

One thing I would love is to be able to hover over items fitted or certain attributes and have a tool tip that shows skills that have an effect on it, so we could right click on the skill and add it to our queues so we can train specific skills just for that ship. It will also help identify skills for a fitting that may not be included in the usual mastery of the ship.

Among other things, can we please have tank displayed in DPS for the highest value? No more messiong around with odd amounts for differing units of time.

Have you thought how you're gonna treat phased armour reppers?

Correct calculation of attributes for ammo, drones, probes and whatnot is a must. And it's not only when fitting a ship but also out in space when probes/drones are deployed. I am really tired of having to check stats on drones before I launch them or - what's worse - being forced to recall them into drone bay to see real stats with all my skills and ship's bonuses and running mods not just base numbers.

Add drone control range, it's not available in client at all at the moment (unless they changed that recently)

A ting I can think of that perhaps is not that obvious to most people is stuff like:

(Re-)Cloaking Delay
Targeting Recalibration Time (time from un-cloaking until you can start to target)
Effective Targeting time (frop box with typical ship types, please)

I would have to second the ability to be able to toggle the modules on/off/overheated having to remove the item to get a better idea of capacitor life is rather annoying. You could also stream line it just a bit more. If you didn't know what you where looking at it can be a really confusing window. I know that when newbros join my Corp I really have to explain the fitting window quiet a lot.

In short, the idea is to cycle on module click idle / active / overload / offline (might have offline in a separate pattern) ONLY showing stats when the module is ACTIVE in the fitting window. We might put the state to active on fit (in the window) The fitting window module state is completely decoupled from the HUD, activating your autocannons in the fitting window will not blast a hole in the station or the object closest to you.

Pls make sure that we can apply bonuses from in various formats. From a T3, Command ships, Battlecruiser, Titan, with our without implants, with different kind of implants etc.

something i would REALLY like to see is the ability to hover over an attribute and see all skills, modules and whatnot that are currently having an impact as well as all those that COULD have an impact.

This is something we have been toying around with doing, let's hope we have bandwidth to make it so!
