I'm sure this has been pitched before (at least once by me as part of another idea) but the threads are locked.

Have rare items drop at random from data and relic sites that have no practical use but do contain interesting lore in their "show info".

Items form into sets that complete their own little stories. collecting them all would require exploring every area of EVE. Just a little something to make you feel more like an explorer and less like a really speaclised salvager.

As cool as this might be (and i might like to own a set of them) i doubt you're going to get something like this past the "go back to wow" crowd...

Yeah, I know it sounds a bit... Theme park(?) MMO. But exploration has never felt like exploration to me, it's just salvaging with extra steps involved. It needs something more, but easy to develope.

Back during the Odyssey testing I pitched an idea for archaeology (here) as it just felt the same as hacking a data site, so why have two activities that are the same. Now, while my old idea would involve tones of work across multiple teams, this smaller one I imagine would be fairly easy to implement. I guess another way to put it is a sort of exploration killboard...

It would certainly keep me exploring longer if there was a goal beyond isk.

I have piles of this stuff from running drug sites and Cosmos. I don't need much more of it, but to each his own.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.
