If you have to sub your account instead of PLEX it I don't see CCPs incentive to reduce the cost of PLEX.

They seem sensible to me. At the current prices it is still possible to plex your account with mothly in game income, albeit you will need some skill points and it might now be out of reach for the typical new player.

Oh noes...

Why should they do that?

Since plex prices are growing ppl invest their isk in plex. Means less plex for free play.

The price is driven by what people are willing to pay. Ccp won't intervene directly.

Imagine if Plex were gained via a random drop either in a mission or anomaly.

At exactly which point do PLEX prices go out of control... at 400million, 800million, 1.2Billion...?

For those who don't have the time to grid endlessly to generate enough isk to buy PLEX, and instead do so using RL cash, these increasingly higher PLEX cost are perfect: more bang for your hard-earned buck!

For those who have to time to grid to get their PLEX, well they just have to grind a little more...

If you got back to Fanfest talks you will see that it is not the price of plex that concerns CCP.

It was heavily put into perspective when the price of plex on Serenity was compared to ours,

Serenity PLEX price is 3.6 Billion isk, make of that what you will. Now keep in mind their economy is a bit different, as they got less players, so more resources for everyone.

That said, CCP does intervene at times. They've been known to sell PLEX on the market when a runaway price spike was threatening to occur.
They also injected a few hundred PLEX in the game through the Provist Manhunt (If you want to know more about this event: Provist Manhunt Summary, if you're only interested in the PLEX amount: Provist Bounties

The main issue of the rising price is that actually less PLEX find their way to the market compared to a year ago. Less PLEX + higher demand (more options have become available for PLEX) means you have to pay a higher price in order to secure a PLEX for yourself.
Remember, the PLEX price on the market is player created. Lower PLEX price means less players will want to sell their PLEX on market, causing a rise of the price. A high PLEX price will mean less people buy it, and cause the PLEX price to lower.
As long as the price keeps rising, it means most people buying PLEX from market don't think it's too expensive (yet).

Imagine if game time could be farmed in missions and anomalies.
Imagine a game where through enough farming, noone had to use real money to play.
Imagine a game where through enough farming, there would be no income.
Imagine employees being laid off, because of no money to pay wages.
Imagine server assets being shut down, because of no money to pay power bills.
Imagine Eve Online shutting down, because someone though plex dropping in missions or anomalies was anything but absolutely a terrible idea.

Kind sad seeing a member of the CSM make such a short sighted comment, considering that the nature of Serenity plex prices is directly tied to the amount of botting that occurs there, and not factors applicable to Tranquility.

I don't care about the arbitrary price of Plex. I do care that Plex is inflating while everything else is deflating, making Eve stuff and implicitly time spent in Eve less valuable in $$$ terms. Some major nerfs to mining and the creation of some real resource scarcity would go a long way towards fixing that.

Thinks it time to move on to an other MMO. . With star citizen coming along with h1z1 and everquest next. I will stay plenty busy. If CCP decides to get their head out of their ass maybe I'll return. If not oh well I'll have plenty of fun doing other things. Every MMO has that turning point when you just let it go when it doesn't become worth playing anymore. . For me EVE is at that point. I'll keep an eye on things every few months .

This isn't a qq post or anything its just eve is going in a different direction than what I personally will enjoy. Be it plex prices jump changes or what ever else. If the game stops suiting my likes and needs I'm not gonna ask ccp to do anything about it I am just going to move on.

Ah the circle of PLEX. At its high point people will say "OMG CANT BUY PLEX EVE IS DUYING!!!" and at its low point it's the same except it's "OMG CAN'T GET ANY ISK FROM PLEX EVE IS DYING!!!".

I swear that this the amount of whine is getting tiring.

I don't appreciate the editing of that quote, making it appear I wrote that instead of you.

Now onward to PLEX prices. A lower PLEX price means less people sell it on market folks, a high price means more people sell it on market. That's the short of it, but i'ts not that simple.

If you check market histories, you'll notice that PLEX trade volume has lowered(!) since last year. So less PLEX traded! As PLEX got more useful this year (simultaneous skill qeues on alts!) the only logical outcome of that is a rise of prices!
You want cheaper PLEX? Convince more people to sell PLEX on the market AND convince them to keep doing it when PLEX prices drop.

I would agree that PLEX should drop randomly while mining.

This would entice more CODE. enforcement...

Yes!

If that happened, the entirety of CODE would collectively switch to mining, along with a good majority of the EvE populations: Free Gametime!
Next step: closure of EVE servers due to lack of funding- EvE is now truly dead.
