The launcher will open, and begin validating client, but then close itself before I have time to do much.

It doesn't happen every single launcher or every time, but when it does, it's the first execution of a launcher since startup

I'm sorry but I can't figure out the conditions to make it happen consistently.

There's no error message. It just closes itself as if I told it to. There are no logs, they show nothing.

unless there are logs you could point me to. there is no error log file like the one that accompanies an error message.
