No, it really isn't.

For why, please search the forum.

hahahhahahah

on one hand resetting will make me happy panda as I'll be able to focus on best skills possible ignoring useless once and enjoy myself to death.
on the other hand sheer chaos of everyone min-maxing their skills...

Can you imagine the marauder maxed skilled pilots all over the place ? :P

My interpertation of what the OP was proposing was this:

1) Skills train nromally.
2) You have the option to "forget" the skill
3) When you "forget" a skill, you DO NOT get the skillpoints back. They are gone forever.

My opinion on the matter: No. This is a pointless addition.

Choices matter. Sorry. You can't just end up chasing the FOTM with no consequence at all.

This comes up quite frequently and always ends up going down in flames.

Start a new alt . Voila all skills reset to the starting point.

That's the best you are going to get.

If you searched the forms you will find this has been asked for in the past. It's never going to happen.

You can reset your skills. Just start a new pilot since with each account you have three character slots. This allows you a fresh start from whatever mistakes you made.

Now when CCP changes what a skill does they should consider something to make up for it. They did that with the Destroyer and Battlecruiser skills but didn't with the four shield compensation skills.

An actual mechanism where you would get SP back because you changed your mind would break the principal of Eve where the choices you make have consequences.

Transport ships do need the T1 to level 5. To my knowledge ALL T2 variants of T1 ships require the T1 skill to level 5. If I'm wrong on this someone please correct me.

You might want to look into getting Evemon. It lists all the requirements of each ship and you can make a skill plan so you don't accidently train the wrong skill. Also it will tell you what and how long your current training skill is without having to log in to game. This is great for when RL is busy and you don't have time to check to see if you're still training.

That would have minor applications for getting rid of Tactical Shield Manipulation, which you need at 4 if you fly shield fits, but its main effect is actually detrimental to characters. A shield pilot with TSM 4 is straight-up better at everything than the same pilot at TSM 5; an armor pilot is better at TSM 0, and a pilot that flies both is better at TSM 4.

The OP was proposing a full respec, however, which is a very very bad idea that would result in a huge power gain for long-term players, turning 110m SP players that have 10m in 'rookie mistakes', 60m in regularly used skills and 40m in infrequently used or formerly useful skills into 110m focused monsters.

Trying to raise your OP from the dead by quoting it isn't going to help. It's not going to happen.
