light missiles and heavy assault missiles

Hi i noticed that you need light missiles 3 to be able to begin training HAMs. This might be a silly question but can anyone tell me if the light missile skill affects HAMs in any way?

It does not affect HAMs in any way aside from being a requirement to train them.

EVE is what happens when the rule of law does not apply and Darwinism is allowed to run freely.

It would make sense if rockets was the pre-requisite for heavy assault and torps. But CCP and sense doesn't mix at best of times.
