Angry mob turns over tattoo studio, beats tattoo artist !

Radical ethnic Matari ruffians allegedly attacked a tattoo studio in downtown Caille yesterday evening, over the apparent altering of culturally important tattoos, claims a Gallente tattoo artist!

The artist claims she was also assaulted by several of the ruffians, both physically and verbally!

"I was working on a client, when these five Matari turned up, and said I was offending their culture, because I had modified some other people's tattoos. Then they threw my equipment on the floor and spray painted symbols all over the walls! One of them then jabbed a finger in my chest and told me that I 'better watch it, or else'! I was terrified and outraged!" said the artist, to a Gutter Press correspondent.

An eyewitness claimed that the tattoo artist is known for having modified several individuals tattoos, and that in some cases, the meaning of the tattoo has been radically altered. "Yeah, she changed this guy's voluval mark, so it wasn't the wrong way up anymore, which was making him so depressed he couldn't go out of the house. But the Traditionalists really don't like it when people do that. Says it offends the spirits."

The tattoo artist admits having altered voluval marks, which are important in Minmatar culture, with the voluval said to represent key aspects of the individual's personality, but claims that she had permission from a Minmatar shaman to perform the procedures. "I know how important they are, that's why I got permission, from this shaman, Logut Akell. He said it was alright, and all I wanted was to help people."

A radical ethnic Minmatar citizen had this to say: "People who have their Marks altered are no longer true Minmatar."

Caille police said that they were "investigating alleged criminal damage and assault" and that they had nothing further to say on the matter.

Good article. When will Gutter Press merch be available? I'd love a shirt or a mug.

In the header, it states that the mob "beats tattoo artist", yet in the article there's no mention of it.
Am I missing something?

It says one of the angry mob forcibly prodded the artist in the chest, with a finger. Maybe being prodded in the boob counts as a beating to delicate Gallente artistes.

The Matari and/or tribes could also try to register copyrights for those specific tattoos.

People who alter their Voluval might as well tatoo "Liar" in big bold letters on their forhead.

I don't find it that hard to believe. There's obviously a rift between those racial Matari Gallenteans who are becoming more culturally Gallente and those racial Matari Gallenteans who are still more culturally Matari.

For the first time since I started the conversation, he looks me dead in the eye. In his gaze are steel jackhammers, quiet vengeance, a hundred thousand orbital bombs frozen in still life.

I think that being prodding in the breast uninvited is considered assault pretty much everywhere.

No means no, gentlemen.

If these tattoos are so important, how would someone be viewed if theirs was forcibly removed by another? I am curious.

A Minmatar who has had their voluval removed may live as long as any other person can reasonably expect.

If you call that living.
